Beautiful traditional house with a family room downstairs. Cosy & located on a nostalgic quiet street. Walking distance to the river and the attractions to the town. Host, Mr Masa was most kind and helpful.

Staying here felt like stepping into the heart of traditional Japan. The ryokan’s peaceful atmosphere and the beautiful onsen made it a truly unforgettable experience — one of the highlights of our entire trip. The rooms were elegant and comfortable, the hosts incredibly kind and welcoming, and every meal was a feast — beautifully prepared and full of flavor. Thank you for the wonderful memories. Domo arigatō gozaimasu! 🙏

Situated in a tranquil area in Gifu Region, a 52-minute drive away from JR Takayama Station, Mozumo boasts a hot-spring bath and rooms decorated with modern Japanese interior. I had a perfect relaxing time at Mozumo. All the staffs were very polite, friendly and helpful. The onsen was the highlight for sure, both the private and public ones. Perfect for bathing after a hike at Kamikochi. The room itself was big and very confortable. The location is also great, being about 5-7 minute walk from the bus station.

This is the best ryokan we stayed considering their price range. Food is overflowing and their hospitality is unmatched! There is also a private onsen in the facility. They don't discriminate race or those with tattoos.

Auberge Hidanomori avati pärast 2022. aastal renoveerimist ning asub vaiksetel mägedel, 10-minutilise süstiksõidu kaugusel JR Takayama jaamast. What an exquisite place. We spent two blissful nights here and from start to finish felt coddled and cared for by the lovely, gracious family who own and run the auberge. Our room was spotlessly clean and comfortable, with the highest quality bedding and softest pyjamas imaginable (I had to buy some to take home!). The food was absolutely top-notch, five-star by any rating, as good as anywhere in the world (I’m talking NYC, London, Paris). The wine pairings were delicious, unusual, well thought through (and natural). The design was beautiful, clean, understated and very very cool with lots of locally crafted furniture. The service was attentive and kind, and we had everything we needed provided for us. Lastly the private onsen was a delight and always available when we wanted it. What a lovely, intimate hideaway—on the outskirts of Takayama, shuttle from and to station provided, making it very easy. Thank you Toshi and Keiko and family—this was an unforgettable stay.

Yatsusankan Over 6-aastane asub JR Hidafurukawa raudteejaamast 6-minutilise jalutuskäigu kaugusel. Külalisi ootavad traditsioonilised Jaapani stiilis majutusruumid, kus on avarad avalikud saunad. It was our third time at the Yatsusankan! Even though it's been six years since our last visit, this establishment remains a wonderful gem, and you should feel privileged to be its guests. All the staff are helpful, smiling, and kind. You feel welcomed and cared for, and every little detail is designed to make you feel at ease. The cuisine is excellent, both the wonderful dinner and the amazing breakfast... everything was perfect, and we can't wait to return to Hida and to this authentic ryokan.

ひらゆの森別邸湯う香三蔵庵 is set in the Hirayu Onsen district of Takayama, 47 km from The Japan Ukiyo-e Museum, 49 km from Matsumoto Station and 13 km from Kamikochi. Location, private onsen in the suite, kaiseki dinner is elegant and delicious, so is the delicious breakfast, both served in our room, it’s a great experience. The staffs are very warm and helpful. It gave free entrance ticket to the big public onsen which is a great extra benefit.

Situated in Gujo in the Gifu region, with Igawa Komichi and Joinji Temple nearby, お宿葉の光 features accommodation with free private parking. The air-conditioned accommodation is 45 km from Gero Station. Really cool and classic japanese style. The owner is really nice and provided anything we could think of needing.
