Situated in a tranquil area in Gifu Region, a 52-minute drive away from JR Takayama Station, Mozumo boasts a hot-spring bath and rooms decorated with modern Japanese interior. Spacious rooms, very tastefully decorated in a minimalistic style. The private onsen was blissful. Food was excellent (although a bit pricey). The hotel is 5 minutes from the bus station, with connections to the main cities and to the Kamikoche park. Overall, highly recommended.

Boasting a private open-air bath, Oyado Eitaro is situated in Takayama. Featuring free private parking, the 2-star ryokan is 35 km from Takayama Station. This is the best ryokan we stayed considering their price range. Food is overflowing and their hospitality is unmatched! There is also a private onsen in the facility. They don't discriminate race or those with tattoos.

Reopened after renovation in 2022, Auberge Hidanomori is situated in quiet hills, a 10-minute shuttle ride from JR Takayama Station. Perfect oasis to rejuvenate! Absolutely stunning architecture throughout the hotel. Family who owns the hotel are incredibly kind with a touch of humor. Highly recommend staying here if you are staying in Takayama. The Hida Folk village is about a 35 minute walk from there and then you can continue on the town afterwards.

Offering traditional Japanese-style accommodation with spacious public baths, Yatsusankan Over 6 years old is a 6-minute walk from JR Hidafurukawa Train Station. Beautiful location and wonderful staff

ひらゆの森別邸湯う香三蔵庵 is set in the Hirayu Onsen district of Takayama, 47 km from The Japan Ukiyo-e Museum, 49 km from Matsumoto Station and 13 km from Kamikochi. Location, private onsen in the suite, kaiseki dinner is elegant and delicious, so is the delicious breakfast, both served in our room, it’s a great experience. The staffs are very warm and helpful. It gave free entrance ticket to the big public onsen which is a great extra benefit.

Set in Gujo, 民泊Azoo provides accommodation 5.8 km from Takasu Snow Park and 6.8 km from Dynaland Ski Resort. Extremely friendly owner, complete amenities, lovely and quaint place

Apollon is situated in the Gujo Hachiman district of Gujo, 400 metres from Koko no mori Museum Yudokan, 400 metres from Saito Art Museum and 500 metres from Gujohachiman Kyuchosha Kinenkan. Gujo Hachiman is a lovely small town, and あぽろん is ideally located as a base for a visit. The accommodation is shared with the owners, but is private. Bedrooms are upstairs, but the bathroom and toilet is downstairs. The hosts were very helpful, despite having limited English, thanks to Google translate.
