All key places are within walking distance or a short drive: * Just a 7-minute walk to the main street with all the restaurants and shops. * 8 minutes by car, and you are at the Ropeway, * Only 30 minutes along a scenic road to the beautiful Lake Sevan. In its architecture, history, and enduring internal culture, the Writers’ Hotel in Tsaghkadzor is a real hidden treasure. You can see the rooms where great 20th century authors, including Hrant Matevossian and Silva Kaputikyan, lived and worked. The hotel is frequented by active Armenian writers as well, which led to some interesting meetings and conversations. The hallways and lobbies are full of paintings, sculptures, and murals, and among many other amenities and curiosities there is a well-stocked Armenian and Russian library. The staff, from the director, to the front desk, to the room service, were extremely helpful, professional, and friendly, which contributed a lot to making my visit a pleasant one. The room, bed, shower, and so on, were clean and comfortable and the internet was stable enough for me to take work calls. The hotel is within convenient walking distance of the 11th-century monastery of Kecharis and the main streets of the town, with restaurants and stores. I would recommend the Writers’ Hotel to anyone as the best value for a stay in Tsaghkadzor, but if you have an interest in Armenian or Soviet literature and culture it is simply unmissable.
