It is sort of safe but you must be vigilant with who is approaching you or when purchasing from individuals or small businesses. Always ask for a receipt. Travelling with Uber is the cheapest far from taxis. Taxies frequently take advantage of foreign travellers (happened to me). The city is reasonably clean and the people are friendly (very). There are public transports everywhere which use a card called SUBE (to be purchased in Kiosks and charged in subway, train stations and kiosks and for not to be ripped-off, ask for receipt after pay, then check the balance from next by machines). Beunos Aires is confusing at he moment (April 2025), because prices are shifting so fast, that even if you do research about what thing currently should cost, you still don't really know, what the proper price to pay is. We got scammed quite a few times - no big amounts, no biggy, but for me it eats at me. Don't like that vibe. BA is still affordable but it is getting very close to European big city prices, but does not have the service. So it is no longer cheap. Beautiful city that feels like you are in Madrid. Lots to do and see, plus the country is gorgeous with many, many types of places to go. Teatro Colon, Opera house, was breathtaking and well worth the English spoken tour if you can book it. It does sell out. Al Atenao bookstore is fabulous - old theatre.
