This is not a hotel room, but a total experience. Every detail is cared for and paced for the duration of your stay. Check in is seamless and we were ushered immediately into the beautiful Ushaka Lodge for afternoon tea and the first of 2 private tours of the zoo. When we arrived at our room at 4pm, luggage was delivered and we had a couple of hours to freshen up and enjoy the incredible room and terrace overlooking the lion enclosure.
Dinner was 5 star, starting with Moet and canapes on the deck. Seating is at long communal tables and it was great to chat with fellow travelers.
Morning started early with a delicious breakfast and another private tour.
At the time I booked, I couldn't imagine staying there more than one night, but honestly, if you can swing it, book for two nights. Take in all the tours the first day and use the second day to wander at your leisure through the zoo, enjoy your room (watching the lemurs for my room) and perhaps book some of the up close animal encounters.
It was a wonderful experience.
