FAQs about hotels in Perth

Serene as the Swan

Sun-drenched and laidback, Perth is simply a joy to be in. However, the West Australian capital does have tourist attractions, such as the Colonial-era mint, important in the country’s gold industry. East is the WACA, a must-see for cricket fans, and the city is also mad for Aussie Rules football.

The city centre has the historic Government House and Supreme Court, both dwarfed by the ultra-modern skyscrapers a few streets behind. The best skyline view is from leafy King’s Park, near the War Memorial overlooking the Swan River below, named after its black swans. Across the river in Perth Zoo are more native animals including koalas, crocodiles and free-hopping kangaroos.

Boats to the zoo leave from the Barrack Street jetty by a sail-shaped bell tower. Other day trips from Perth include Rottnest Island and Fremantle, down the river in the opposite direction from Perth Airport.

The apartments, B&Bs and hotels in Perth are spread all over this fantastic city, interspersed with restaurants serving specialities such as western rock lobster and chilli mussels. There is also a wealth of bars, many playing the indie music that the city is known for. Local brews from the Swan Brewery and wines from the Swan Valley vineyards round off the evening.

I was there for 15 nights.

I was there for 15 nights. Enjoyed the city sites and surrounds. Travelled & stayed elsewhere was really good - not with Perth Luxury Apartments, as I left a day early. I travelled to Fremantle, wineries, historical places & Kings park. Didn't use restaurants, prefer fresh.

We have been to Perth some time ago (10)years and we were blown away with the development and the cleanliness and great roads. Perth is certainly an example of what other cities should look like. Lots to see and do and easy to get around. Well Done to all those responsible for making the city of Perth somewhere to have a great place to live and holiday in.

We enjoyed the concert we attended.

We enjoyed the concert we attended. The lunch Swan River Cruise was relaxing. We enjoyed dinner at the Duxton Hotel with excellent food. The City CAT bus was useful and the drivers were excellent, very helpful when we lost a parcel on the bus. Kings Park offered great views, and it was a relaxing place to walk around.

Very windy - I was surprised

Very windy - I was surprised Hilly - not as hilly as Sydney - but I was surprised, given how flat Adelaide is Public Transport is amazing - so easy to get from the Airport to accommodation, then from Perth Train Station back to the Airport - try it you will not look back. The Cat bus links were the easy way to get around. I was disappointed with myself that I did not go on the Yellow Cat, the rest (4) were by far easy to use. Free bus rides on all buses within the CBD - that was a very pleasant surprise. Kings Park at sunset is amazing, take a little Esky and enjoy !! There are so many things to do - Take a Star Gazing and Pinnacle guided tour - do not pass up the opportunity to do so Rottenest Island - loved the ferry ride but being on the + side of 60, I say leave it to the sub 40's however the wood oven pizza was to die for..

Transport system is excellent and very cheap.

Transport system is excellent and very cheap. Plenty of places to visit. The Perth Museum is really good for a family outing. Information on places to visit is available at various locations including train stations. The addition of a train service at the Airport is really good. A visit to the Optus stadium and the adjoining Matagarup footbridge is worth a visit especially at night. A trip across the Swan by Ferry at night is also good for some good night photos.

Accommodation is very expensive in Perth and the Canning Bridge Auto Lodge is good value for money. It's close to Canning Bridge train station for Central Perth and there are buses outside the hotel going to both Perth & Fremantle (we did not have a car). It has a lovely pool which I enjoyed daily, for my morning dip. The rooms are very spacious and we had a fridge, microwave etc. Towels and toiletries were replaced daily. The bed was very comfortable.
