Absolutely Loved Cairns. Easy to get around and arrange tours. The esplanade is a lovely clean place to be full of great dining options. The free lagoon is a feature and we found it to be very clean and well maintained, there was even community aqua aerobic classes held there. Day 1 we hired a car and took a drive up to Port Douglas and then stopped in at the Crocodile Farm on the way back - spectacular coastline along the highway, beautiful swimming beaches and the croc farm was good fun. Day 2 we had a day trip out to the reef (Green Island) nice relaxing day. Glass bottom boat was a highlight. Day 3 we took the scenic railway up to Kuranda and the Skyrail back down. This day was by far my favourite, the scenery was incredible. Spectacular. Such a well run day, we loved it. This itinerary gave us a great taste of Cairns as we only had 3 full days to cram things in. We also visited the Casino one night too.
Cairns in winter has the perfect climate , we stayed 4 days , but could of stayed a couple more days . We did different tours each day , an awesome experience , very friendly tour hosts. So many restaurants to chose from, we did have a lovely dinner at YaYa's Hellenic Greek restaurant and grabbed yummy takeaway pizza and pasta at Villa Romana Trattoria. La Pizza trattoria was great for coffee and breakfast . Walking around town was easy and Uber drivers were easy to find and all the ones we had were friendly locals.
Small tropical city. Airport very close to city. Lots of attractions and activities nearby. Reef tours, snorkelling and diving, rainforests, cruises, kids activities, nature trips, helicopter rides. It’s all here, and not as commercialised and crowded as the Gold Coast
The Aquarium, Fitzroy Island, The Dome at the Casino ,The train and Skyrail at Kuranda, were all terrific. We found a cafe on the Waterfront where tour boats leave for breakfast. Dundees, The RSL and Casino were all great for meals. We walked a lot and hired a car to go to Port Doouglas, very easy to get around. Because of where we stayed.
All the restaurants and bars were great. The Cock and Bull Pub was excellent. It is just down the road. Cairns is very easy to get around. The only negative thing with Cairns is we didn't feel safe walking around at night.
I was last in Cairns in 1995 and there was not much along the esplanade. Now it is a vibrant esplanade and the man made lagoon is lovely. There are quite a few restaurant choices on the pier but found walk ins to be non existent. You must book these especially for a 6-7 pm dinner otherwise you will go hungry. The steam train and cable car over the rainforest is a must see but in 1995 Karanda was abuzz with really arty shops and the market was buzzing. Felt it to be a bit underwhelming this time but the lack of international tourists across Cairns was evident.
Cairns
Great location: CBD of Cairns, close to everything including the ferry terminal (perfect for early trips to the Great Barrier Reef, Fitzroy Island or the airport). The hostel is extremely secured with two locked doors to get inside. We felt super safe, and it feels more like a hotel than a hostel to be honest. Room was rather small, beds were very comfy, shared bathroom super clean. Also, enormous shared kitchen with plenty of utensils, appliances, plates etc. Beautiful terrace near the kitchen. We will definitely come back.
It's truly a piece of great experience amidst the CBD of Cairns. All the major points of the city are within walking limits. We didn't have to catch a bus on a single instance! Even the airport is 10 minutes drive from the hotel and even has a shuttle pick up and drop service from its gate. It was just not a hotel but more like a service apartment which really helped us to enjoy a comfortable stay within reasonable budget.
We Got a bargain price through booking.com for our stay which sweetened the time we spent here. Check in and out was a breeze and after travelling for a week we made the most of the room and the huge bed and caught up on much needed sleep. The rooms are so big and comfortable and I always love staying here when in cairns. Breakfast was great the one morning we made it in time. Hotel staff always friendly and inviting.
Friendly people, everyday activities planned by hostel or people staying at the hostel. Lunch and Dinner deals with amazing value for the money you pay! Very good bar with a good variety of drinks for good prices. Tour guide available (CheapAZ) with the best prices for any activity. Just ask and Stu (name of the guy) will give a better price. Free shuttle to city centre!
David is a fantastic host, he made our stay effortless and wonderful. David worked around our odd flight times, allowing our check in and check out to run perfectly smoothly. The house met all our standards and is perfect for a family. We would love to stay there again when in Cairns.
Located just outside of the central tourist area, an easy walk to sites and restaurants. Breakfast was cheaper here than than other hotels where we stayed. Our room was a suite, nice and large. Quite AC system. Both parts of the suite had good quite ceiling fans.
Cairns
everything was so clean and the room was pretty mush standard between me and my partner we both have 1 year old child therefore we both love the Luxury of the location and the room we would like to take our family to stay there for holiday THANK YOU CAIRNS INN
The location is great, you are near by where all the boat tours departure, near by the casino and from all restaurants. You can walk everywhere, the hotel is clean and the rooms super confy. Staff is very helpful and the breakfast was delicious.
Everything, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is fantastic, so new and the rooms are gorgeous. We got upgraded to a sea view and it was stunning. The pool is pretty and there is a day spa. The best hotel in Cairns hands down
Not a special experience, as the area is not super central and the hotel a little outdated, but the value for money is really good. Staff was friendly and rooms were clean. Very convenient to stay the night before heading to the airport.
Large clean room with king-size bed. Located within an easy a walk to the Esplanade and city centre. This is a good business and deserves support post-Covid opening. Forward and upward Tropical Heritage, Cairns and North Queensland!
If your after a cheap but clean and tidy hotel in the centre of Cairns city then you won't be disappointed. Location was spot on and the room and bed were a good size for what we paid.
The family room is spacious and the hotel is located a short walk from Muddy’s playground and cafe. It’s also very close to the aquarium and esplanade. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Amazing pools , and really nice rooms I had a wonderful time at this hotel. Next to the main shopping centre, Cairns Central, and only about 5 mins walk from the Esplanade
Cairns
Jackie was very helpful and the apartment is very well situated in relation to the Cairns city center with great amenities within the hotel.
