Just 10 minutes' walk from the Cairns Esplanade and 25 minutes' walk from Cairns Lagoon, this 4-star hotel provides luxurious accommodation with cable TV.

We stayed in a one bedroom suite which was more than roomy, it was very roomy with two balconies and a very comfortable king size bed, everything was exceptionally clean and everything worked in the room, JUDY in reception was remarkable, she helped us out with absolutely everything while we were there and with a smile, the dining room staff which consisted of Adam and Kayden we are nothing but helpful and very friendly and always had a big smile, so yes our stay at the Sheraton Cairns was amazing and we will definitely be staying there again, many thanks Wayne and Tracey Ryan ✌️

I have visited Cairns frequently and always enjoy my time...

I have visited Cairns frequently and always enjoy my time here. It's a good central and convenient place to base yourself to go to the Great Barrier Reef and drive for day trips in the hinterland, visit waterfalls, the Atherton Tablelands, the Gilles Ranges or up to Port Douglas. Some people prefer to stay in the northern beaches or in Port Douglas because Cairns city doesn't have any beaches. There is a popular and free artificial lagoon pool on the waterfront which is excellent. The Esplanade has a large playground with water features for small children, street gyms, and free outdoor basketball and volleyball courts. There are many places to eat out on the Esplanade, but also some pretty good cafes in the streets behind. It always depends what you are into, but I enjoy visiting the galleries, the botanic gardens and drives to the waterfalls and waterholes that you can swim at. If I need to get to a beach, then Holloways, Trinity and Palm Cove are an easy drive. Be aware that swimming in the wet season requires a stinger suit. I have been out to the outer reef a few times and would advise against going out there when the winds are 25k or more- it's just too choppy. 15-20 k can be still bouncy but do-able. If it's 10k or less then it's amazing and perfect! Green Island is fine for a short trip to see some ok fringing coral, but much of it has been significantly damaged by run off from the city and land clearing and over use.

    Tourist orientated.

Tourist orientated. Has a great food court which is open at night. Many hotels and motels to choose from. Access to Reef, rainforest and Atherton Tablelands. Great train service and flights to Brisbane. New access road to the city on the southern approaches. Variety of shops in the CBD. Friendly people. Great variety of restaurants. Cultural experiences available - Kuranda art galleries etc. Hartley's Crocodile Farm. Access to Port Douglas, Palm cove and the Daintree. Kuranda tourist railway and Skyrail.

Everybody should visit Cairns... the locals are super friendly, the reef is incredible - you must snorkel or dive, and the rainforest is mind-blowing, everybody should take the gondola... it was a highlight of our trip. The restaurants are really good value and the food is absolutely delicious. Great local coffee too! It's fair to say we will be back!

I like Cairns. I like the weather and the vibe.

I like Cairns. I like the weather and the vibe. There is always people around from early morning to late at night. I like the esplanade and the lagoon is fantastic. Rusty's market is a good place to visit as is Hemmingway's. A visit to the Botanic gardens is well worth it as well as the Tanks especially for a concert. The CPAC is also great for concerts. I walked to a lot of places and also caught buses.

I thought Cairns was very run down.

I thought Cairns was very run down. The tourist activities expensive rushed and tacky. Our jet boat guy nearly crashed it accidentally and hurt everyone on the boat. We didn’t see one turtle on Green Island. The reef is in a terrible state

Cairns is an awesome place to visit, plenty of things to do, lots of lovely beaches along the coast and central for visiting the tableland or further up the coast to Port Douglas or the Daintree. It’s a shame that most of the accomodation is so expensive.

Great location: CBD of Cairns, close to everything including the ferry terminal (perfect for early trips to the Great Barrier Reef, Fitzroy Island or the airport). The hostel is extremely secured with two locked doors to get inside. We felt super safe, and it feels more like a hotel than a hostel to be honest. Room was rather small, beds were very comfy, shared bathroom super clean. Also, enormous shared kitchen with plenty of utensils, appliances, plates etc. Beautiful terrace near the kitchen. We will definitely come back.

Fantastic location within walking distance to the bars and restaurants on the esplanade without being right on top of it. Hotel staff were extremely friendly and went above and beyond to help us out. Accommodation was comfortable and clean, perfect for an affordable family vacation. Exceptional Staff, that can not do enough to help you. If needed. The hotel is old and this is clearly evident in the carpet staining through out the hall ways. Bedrooms are old too, but there is a very clear difference between old and shabby, then old but loved and well maintained. The latter here in this case. Beds very lovely and huge. Rolled freely all night. Ha Ha! Great location to the Esplanade, bars, restaurants, everything!

I loved that this is a small locally run hotel. Interacting with them, you can tell they really want their guests to have a great experience at their hotel and in Cairns. They are and will continue to do their best for their customers. Thank you Paul, Peter, Preezy (sp?)! And especially big thanks to Big Ben for the casual conversations!
