From the booking process (getting us a room with a view) to the checkout process (getting us a taxi to the station), the staff was courteous, very accommodating, and even gave our toddler a goodie bag. I wasn't expecting the open-air onsen, so that was a nice bonus, especially during our winter stay. We will definitely stay here again the next time we visit.

Good location just a few minutes walk to the train station. Rooms on the small size however adequate for our needs. Good breakfast, mainly Japanese food with limited western food. Staff were very helpful although they have limited English
The hotel is located less than 10-minute walk from the station. Lots of restaurants within 10-minute walk radius. One of the famous beef tongue restaurant is 2-minute walk from the hotel! Actually the sumptuous breakfast menu include a beef tongue curry! The room size is reasonably large in comparison with typical Japanese hotels near train station. Behind the hotel is a fresh produce market where you can get fruits and seafood.
-The Inn is within walking distance from Hiraizumi Station. -The room in spacious, well appointed, and immaculately clean. The view from my 2F room is refreshingly expansive. -The manager was cordial and willing to communicate with non-Japanese travellors. -Overall with limited accommodation options in Hiraizumi, Iris Yu represents great value as long as you don't expect the luxury ryokan experience.
Nice traditional Japanese house.
Great location near Aomori station. You get a traditional japanese room for a reasonable price.
The best part of staying in this budget hotel is the exceptional breakfast buffet with a great variety of Japanese homemade dishes. It’s within a 10-min walk from the JR station. The public bath is open until late night.
Mayuko-san was an extremely welcoming host, and I received high praise for being the first Finnish person to stay at her guesthouse. I didn't try any traditional Japanese arts that she teaches, but on the last morning she kindly took me to see a shamisen performance. Highly recommend this place!
Huge twin room comparing to other Japanese rooms. Comfortable and easy walk to train station.
I felt in a movie. Very original place, old fashioned, with a very big and very calm dog, a cliché old man and his grandson jumping around, and the owner (i guess), very simpathetic, smiling and helpful with quite a good english. Two onsen in the basement, that you can take privately. (Not super fresh but who cares). A place full of love. You can eat dinner and breakfast, japanese style, and good. Oh, and it's not expensive at all. I recommend 100%.
Although the bathroom was small - not untypical in Japanese hotel chains - the room was of a perfectly adequate size, and clean and comfortable. A high floor affords views of the mountains on a clear day. The buffet breakfast was good, with different options on different days, and staff were efficient, friendly and helpful.
