During this trip from greater Fort Myers and Naples, you will discover the Everglades with the help of a naturalist guide. First, you will board a 13-passenger van and listen to a narrated tour. Then, you will take an airboat ride through pond apple swamps and cattail marshes in search of alligators, turtles and birds in the western Everglades.
Along the way, you will see wildlife on a backcountry drive through Big Cypress National Preserve, stop for lunch and take a nature walk through an ancient cypress grove out to a gator hole where female alligators nest. You will also journey through the Ten Thousand Islands in Everglades National Park, the second largest mangrove forest in the world, in search of dolphins and manatees. You will round off the tour with a visit to the historic Smallwood Store museum, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
