I had a lovely 2 night stay in room 4, which is at the back with a door onto the courtyard. No view, but no traffic either. It was a large room with a king size, very comfortable bed. Despite the weather being madly hot, the room was lovely and cool. Everything was spotlessly clean. WIFI worked perfectly. Tea and coffee tray. Bathroom was huge with free standing shower and some nice toiletries. You do your breakfast order the evening before and leave in the hall. There was plenty of choice and was delicious. Lovely pot of tea. The hosts are very friendly. I really enjoyed my stay and will go back. 5 minutes walk from Matlock Bath station.

A fabulous place to stay. Accommodation, breakfast and views great. Hosts exceedingly welcoming and helpful. The best place we have stayed whilst travelling in the UK for three weeks. Would recommend the Gables to anyone travelling to the Peak district.

Lovely room for 3 adults ( sisters) Double bed & bunk beds in adjoining area. Super comfy bed with luxurious bed linen. Super extras - chocs, mince pies & bottle of Prosecco. Welcome note from host Michael was a lovely touch. Tea & coffee making facilities with Fresh milk in fridge ( much appreciated- so much better than the normal jiggers ) Great host who was very helpful with local suggestions. House itself is really elegant & homely - a posh b & b without being pretentious it’s a little gem of a place.

The warm and friendly atmosphere at the Red Lion from both owners and staff was genuine and welcoming. The restaurant had a very relaxed warm vibe. Good selection for breakfast and a wholesome tasty dinner menu. The bedroom/bathroom was comfortable, quiet, clean and well appointed.

Peter and his family made our stay so wonderful! He gave us a lot of recommendations for sights to see around the area and hiking trails. We got the full English countryside experience! The house and the gardens are so lovely. So much care has been taken when renovating the house and honoring Florence Nightingale's history. The bed was also really comfortable. We slept really well. It's one of the most relaxing places I've been to!
