Good place to stay if travelling by car. To visit Florence is easy - leave the car behind and catch the No 14 bus to Pistoia (15min @ Euro 1.2 per person each way). Bus drops you off at the train station then a 45 min ride to Florence @ Euro 5 per person each way. Ensure you purchase bus ticket at Tabac (local) and validate when on bus. Train tickets available at train station (both can be pre-purchased). Enjoy.
P.S. Drives up the mountain is worthwhile if you are confident enough to tackle narrow twisted roads and other drivers!!
