Mariestad calls it self sjötown but for example in the town it self is not a single swimming place. You will have to go outside of town and really know where to go if you want to get to swim on a beach or with small kid. Very few restaurants in the main centre, unless you want pizza. We went off season, but I imagine in the high season it would be very busy. We would recommnet Läckö Slott about 35kms away - stunning castle right on Lake Vannern. Mariestad also has a beautiful cathedral and harbour.

Everything is very well decorated with attention to details like from the Vogue magazine ;-) Anyone who cares about art and design will appreciate that. The house has 3 rooms - two of them (on the first floor) are with shared bathroom, dinning room with kitchen and a living room. Outside there is a private garden for guests where you can spend a day or two in total silence and close to nature.

The rooms are nicely decorated, breakfast offers many options. A coffee machine with excellent quality is accessible at all times. The hotel is located in a quiet quarter with 10-15 minutes walking distance to the town centre.

It is a nice small hotel with a very friendly and helpful staff. We liked the well kept garden with comfy seats and the kind of livingroom, free to use by the guests. Wifi worked perfectly.
