The facility is owner operated. He is friendly and can speak English, although he is Spanish. Most willing to try to get us to a specific tour by calling the organisers. The room was spacious and the swimming a great relieve in the heat of Puerto Viejo. About 300 metres from the sea and very nice beach restaurants.

The owner went out of his way to make our stay memorable - he led us on a night frog tour in his garden, he went and got his binoculars to show us toucans when we came for breakfast, he let us know when the volcano was visible, not to mention all the useful advice he have us every morning when we were planning our day.

Discover the charm of Hotel Secreto La Fortuna, a quiet retreat in the heart of Fortuna, Costa Rica. Loved it here! Breakfast was great and loved when the fed the birds in the morning. It was a meal with a show. So many amazing colorful birds. The location is great. It's an easy walk into town, but far enough from the center that it's not too loud. Our rooms were comfortable. They aren't super modern, but were good. The pool was very refreshing and generally we didn't have difficulty finding a place to relax by the pool. The staff were all very helpful and kind. We were very lucky that 3 of the 4 days we were there, we could see the arenal volcano. The first day it was completely covered with clouds, but it eventually came out! Great view from the pool

Gorgeous grounds with lots of little touches to make the place a wonderful hangout. We loved the reading and games books by the pool, the hot tub, and the plentiful garden work that brought in so much wildlife.

Ballena Rey Hotel se nachází v destinaci Uvita a nabízí ubytování s venkovním bazénem, neplaceným soukromým parkovištěm, zahradou a sdíleným loungem. Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary je 13 km daleko. Exceptionally good value-for-money. Small (about 14 rooms), modern, hotel in a good location for visiting various places e.g. Catarata Uvita, Nauyaca Waterfalls, Parque Nacional Marino Ballena, Hacienda Baru Wildlife Refuge. Many evening dining out options in the local vicinity, although the hotel owner told us there are plans to offer an evening meal option at Ballena Rey very soon. We had room 12: good balcony space, with 2 armchairs, small table top and 2 stalls, cacti at each end of the balcony, ceiling fan; the open plan kitchen and living room area was spacious, with air-conditioning and ceiling fan, 2 armchairs, TV, table and 2 chairs and sufficiently equipped kitchen (though 2 rings for cooking would be preferable to the one ring provided) and good-sized fridge/freezer; spacious shower room with hot water (some of the places we stayed at during our 31 night trip didn't have hot water); bedroom - reasonably comfortable bed, hanging and shelf storage space, air-conditioning and ceiling fan, one bedside table. Very good buffet breakfast - the breakfast ladies did a great job and it was lovely to be able to choose what you wanted, how much you wanted, in what order etc. Very good cleaning service provided in the room and in the hotel grounds. Lovely pool, which we made good use of. And the staff were all very friendly! We really enjoyed our stay at Ballena Rey and were sorry to leave.

Featuring an extensive garden, a sun terrace with swimming pool, spa treatments and free Wi-Fi throughout, this hotel is 10 minutes’ drive from the Arenal Volcano National Park and from La Fortuna... private rooms with cute gardens, great food at La Saca restaurant on site...very romantic but also family-friendly vibes. I enjoyed the hot springs being on site as well. It was like a small resort with stunning views of Arenal volcano.

San Bosco Inn is located in downtown La Fortuna, so it's easy to move around. Staff were always friendly and willing to help. Breakfast is included, so take advantage of the buffet. If the sky is clear, you will have an amazing view of El Arenal volcano.
