  „Karla is the most caring and friendly person you can imagine, her and Sam blew us away with their hospitality. When my friend and I fell ill she took us to the hospital and made sure they took proper care of us, the day after she even brought our luggage from the hostel to the hospital. After this experience we regard her as a friend, who even still visits us at the hospital, keeps us company and brings her own delicious food. Sam has a wonderful restaurant called So True nearby where you can get great food at a very reasonable price, everyone from the hostel goes there together every night and have dinner together. The hostel is so sociable, it's not a party hostel but people that come here are friendly and we made several friends during our stay. We played beach volley, cards, went out and many other activities with the other hostel guests, don't miss out on this! There is also a fantastic and clean beach nearby, and my favorite activity was to walk down to the nearby resort and have a drink in their luxurious hammock for free! Go here, you won't regret it.“

• Dormstay Riverside Hostel Phu Quoc

  Offering a sun terrace and views of the mountain, Dormstay Riverside is located in Cua Can fishing village, 11 km from Duong Dong.

  „This is hands down my favourite hostel. It is in a stunning location right on the river, where you can kayak down to the beach or walk there in less than 5 minutes. The kayaks are free, and they also provide free bikes. The area is in a quiet untouristy part of the island, which is perfect if you are trying to get away. The locals are very friendly, always saying hello and the general vibe of the town is chilled. The beds are very comfortable in a large spacious dorm, with mosquito nets and the beds are larger than average. The doors are wall length French doors, which we kept open all night and there are big lockers. I felt incredibly safe here even with it so open. Khai is a very good host, always happy to help and on Valentine's Day we had a communal dinner where all the ladies got roses. The food here is some of the best I have had in Vietnam and Khai and Huei gave us a cooking class for some of their specialties on the menu. The common area is great, there is a deck on the river where the lights can be switched off at night and the view of the stars is beautiful. The sunset from here is also one of the best I have seen. There are hammocks and plenty of shade as it gets very hot. The showers are amazing as there is no roof, and the water pressure is good. It is generally clean and well maintained. All of the staff are very attentive and are on hand all day. I didn't feel the need to leave the hostel other than for the beach. We originally booked for one night but ended up staying 4. I was genuinely sad to leave.“

  „Everything was wonderful. The room was perfect. Hot water for the shower. The sea is warm and clear and great for swimming. Soft sand and no rocks or pebbles. The sunbeds were comfortable and plenty of them. Free kayak usage. The food we tried was all delicious. It is a family business and Lei the owner was so helpful in all regards. We cannot speak highly enough of this resort if you want a few days away from it all. It is certainly a chill out place.“
