Everything! Ne Pakku Manja is such a nice place. The family is making you feel at home. Meyske is a really good cooker. Dinner there is a delight, because of the food of course, but also because of the nice moment you can share with Meyske and the other guests. The room is comfortable, the house itself is very clean. Yacob, Yansen, Mama Tia and the rest of the family were amazing in their hospitality. Their homestay is simple and rustic but is also very homely. The rooms are very clean with a nice inside communal area as well as a very nice verandah where you can sit and appreciate the view of the neighbouring fields and ponds. If you are used to and looking for luxury comfort, then this is probably not the place for you, but if you appreciate simplicity and character then it is. Yacob and Yansen also provide guiding services which I would highly recommend They will tailor the tour to what the guests want to see. I would highly recommend visiting the funeral ceremonies with Yacob/Yansen. They provide a lot of good local insights. Also, staying at Mama Tia's was great because the communal areas encourage mingling with the other guests. While I we there, I met 3 French couples, a French and a German girl. I travelled with a few of these people north to the Bunaken Islands and Gorontalo. Thanks to Mama Tia's that I made such good friends.

Room is nice, kitchen is clean, bathroom has hot water, and the neighborhood is convenient. They are nice people. It’s all great! They even provided transportation to our bus station.

We were very sick during our stay and the owner went above and beyond to make sure we were fed and OK. He was so nice!! He helped us with scooters and bus tickets too. Bed very big, spacious room, beautiful setting. Clean.

The guest house was a wonderful gem in the middle of Rantepao, conveniently located near all the Tana Toraja points of interest. I had a traditional Torajan home all to myself and it felt so special. The place was extremely clean, had all I needed. It is part of a typical Torajan family's compound. Aldi, the host went out of his way to help and assist me with everything. He even waited for us until late at night (and I felt horrible about it, because it was like 1.30 AM when I arrived), as I was driving from Makasar and arrived later than expected. He organized a 2 day tour with Mr. Ino (also recommended), who showed me around the main sights at VERY reasonable cost. The place was spotless, comfortable, and felt like I was in a documentary. Absolutely recommended. As for Tana Toraja.... it is a unique corner of our world. Make sure you spend at least 2 days there to see everything. Ask for Ino's services.

A wonderful destination for the most surreal and bountiful of places. I would recommend this quaint, traditional and secluded homestay to anyone. The simple kindness, the all-encompassing scenery and the generous hosts. It is basic, but that's makes it all the more beautiful. Also, John will gladly take you around with a smile upon his face, and even take you to a funeral if you are lucky. It was one of my favourite experiences of my trip!

Location is absolutely stunning. We had a full traditional tonkonan all for ourselves. Very spacious and super clean and very well decorated. The surrounding garden is very well maintained. The view on the lumbung is something special. Breakfast was a delicious nasi goreng. Hot water and great water pressure in the very spacious and clean toilet. The real gem of this place is the super welcoming and helpful owners. They went above and beyond any expectations to help us. They pick us up from Rantepao at 6am, gave us breakfast while waiting for the room to be available. Helped us with an issue on our SIM card and they also gave us super precious information on how to explore Toraja their traditions, especially on the Rambu solo. Be aware that this is a rural area and reception can be very poor both on your phone and on the WiFi.
