Had a fantastic two night stay here, everything was so lovely, we felt welcomed and it was a really relaxing environment to act as a base to explore Grasmere. Very comfortable room,.completed to a really high standard. We were even given an upgrade to our room! The breakfast was extensive to a very high standard or organic products, we mentioned we were vegan and the gentleman very kindly cooked extra vegan options for us. The homemade bread was a lovely touch

Absolutely loved everything and couldn't fault it, the hosts are really kind and make you feel very welcome. The location is perfect with Ambleside 3 mins downs the road and Windermere only another 10 mins. Loads of animals on the property (which is beautiful) which just added to the experience. Can't wait to return.

The service was impeccable as was the morning breakfast service. The owners have put a great deal of work and thought into restoring and keeping the place up to date and modern while making sure to retain the old charm of the guest house from the late 1800’s. There are little details that that show up such as a drying room for folks to dry off their hiking gear and shoes thanks to the notoriously rainy and wet area. They are close to Ambleside (3-4 minute drive to the shipping and dining district) The room and bath were top notch.

The locatation for walking was perfect, we were able to walk to little langdale and into Skelwith Bridge. The shared area downstairs was fanatstic and so homely. The bedrooms were cosy and warm.

1. Location Ideal base to plan trips around the lakes. Many accessible walks around the property which you can get to by foot, without needing to drive out. The town centre is easily accessible by foot as well. Many great food spots. Surrounding locations (e.g. Windermere, Grasmere, Buttermere etc.) are a reasonable distance away and you could make a day trip out. 2. Rooms Room and bathroom are both pristine - kudos to the staff! The bed mattress was of good quality - essential after long days out hiking. 3. Breakfast I would honestly stay just for the amazing breakfasts prepared by our hosts. Amanda is a nutritionist and the care and effort that goes into her cooking (to name a few: eggs sourced locally, bacon specifically sourced to be prepared without nitrates, sausages made specially by the butcher, homemade granola) truly pays off. We were well-fed and watered, and I think she'd be happy to know that her breakfasts gave us all the fuel we needed until the evening. 4. Hosts Many thanks to our wonderful hosts. Very friendly and accommodating. Gave great recommendations for food and day trips out. Overall: I simply cannot recommend Haven Cottage enough! This is an outstanding B&B, and deserves all the recognition it can get.
