Friendly, helpful staff. Very polite receptionist. Excellent food in the restaurant and great service. Drinks at the bar were lovely and again the service was great. The hotel is generally lovely - it's old fashioned. The location is great for exploring the New Forest.
Some areas of the hotel have been recently redecorated to a very high standard our room hadn't been redecorated and probably needs it to warrant the price. The bed was uncomfortable and needs to be replaced.
Very pleasant waitress at dinner, Marlena, made an average meal a good experience with he charmingconversation. Best thing about the stay.
Room poorly laid out, no mirror over dressing table, kettl had to be plugged and left on carpet, very poor wifi connection. Will not be returning, not good value for money and not enough staff in restuarant.
Great location, stayed there a number of times, feels like home.
Being asked if I've stayed there before - they should know! Restaurant service dysfunctional. Fantastic starter but the steak that followed was poor. Would be nice if they stocked more of the wines on the list.
The staff were really attentive, but not over the top. The location was great, minutes and you're in the New Forest for lovely walks. The spa facilities were excellent
I found the wifi a bit hit and miss, but that was a tiny point in an otherwise lovely stay/
Staff very friendly. Location and swimming pool good but room was decorated well but was a little small and that was with an upgrade, bed was small but then it was advertised as a double and not a king. Look and feel of hotel is good but undergoing works at the moment which is a shame as the temporary arrangements not that good.
Not being able to use the bar and lounge as it was undergoing work. It meant we didn't spend as much time in the hotel as we would have liked. Breakfast very expensive £15 per head but not that fresh, a lot of money for a slice of bacon very dry, a sausage that seemed as though it has been cooked for a while and I didn't enjoy the scrambled egg again didn't seem fresh and cold beans, this affected our decision not to eat their in the evening. There is a note saying breakfast will take a while as it is all cooked fresh which I like but before you knew it was there on the table so supporting my feeling it had just been reheated such a shame.
The reception area was undergoing refurbishment which we were not informed about. There was a piano player playing very loudly in the reception area which made it difficult to hear the receptionist. There was also the smell of the luncheon carvery throughout the hotel, even up to floor three which we were on, the fire doors had been left open which allowed the smells and noise to permeate the hotel. Our room was satisfactory, also the door stop was in three parts on the carpet. Too many cushions (see Fiona Bruce on Room 101) We went down to the lounge to have tea and there was only two comfy areas in the lounge for tea/pre dinner drinks, the rest of the tables were cafeteria style. We intended having guests for dinner and this wasnt suitable. Also assaulted by a big slobbering labrador, not the dogs fault but the owner who thinks everyone should love their pet. So from past experience, if the first 15 mins does not impress its not going to get any better. We left and went to the Carey Manor next door, perfect.
Receptionist very helpful
Bedroom walls a bit thin
the view from my window
although the staff were polite they were somewhat impersonal, as opposed to the Manor Park Hotel, where my family were staying, which employed local people with a friendly and helpful approach
Food at the restaurant was excellent and the spa facilities were really good and clean. Easy access to a walk in the lovely surrounding area.
Our room was a bit too hot and opening the windows made it too noisy as there were machines whirring outside.
Location in the heart of the New Forest. The indoor pool, sauna and spa bath facilities.
There were not enough staff at reception both at check-in and check-out. There were queues and wait time on both occasions.
Excellent reception staff - clean and friendly will stayt again soon
Breakfast staff are dozy
Beautiful location and lovely hotel, amazing four poster bed very comfortable Food very good and we'll presented Great location
Drinks a bit pricey
The hotel is quite an imposing building overlooking the lovely New Forest. The foyer is very welcoming with a lovely fireplace and a snug bar. The rooms were very good and comfortable and the staff were very attentive
nice location, pleasant reception staff, room was nice.
We are used to a king size bed so we had to upgrade to a more expensive superior room to get this, which was disappointing. Room was cold on going in even though it was 5 in the evening. Initially we were offered an electric heater but when I made a fuss they put the heating on, apparently someone had clicked boiler off. Good breakfast but small cup of coffee and no refill offered.
Central location in New Forest Delicious food Friendly staff
Lovely Hotel in a nice location. No complaints.
Cost of taking two dogs was quite prohibitive
a bit tired, needed a bit of a spruce up
Friendly and very helpful staff. The location is excellent and downstairs receptions areas are plush also very comfortable. Even at the time of year it was still very, very pleasant.
The room decor was tired, the wardrobe doors were stiff and squeaky which did't form the impression we were expecting. We felt there is massive potential with little investment on rooms and food which would make this hotel what we expected, it just fell a little short.
Everything....cycling, walking and location, a lovely neck of the woods. Many thanks
Friendly staff and upgrade
Room service breakfast arrived -at least the consumables did but nothing to eat it off or with.
The breakfast was good
The evening meal was poor, very small and expensive
The location is fantastic. Loved the ponies and cows on the lawns.
The rooms were on the same level as a travel lodge, I expected more for what we paid.
The ability to travel with the animals.
Noisey and breakfast cooking smells through the windows was off putting.
Wonderful setting and terrific standard of accommodation.
