Maenan Abbey Hotel  

Location, value for money restaurant and service.

If non-smoker make sure that you confirm that you have been allocated a non-smoking room before arrival. If you are on an upper floor there is no lift access.

We changed hotels at short notice and the Maenan Abbey was a welcome relief. The hotel was clean and warm. The staff very welcoming and helpful. We all had a lovely stay and would go back there again if the opportunity arose.

The hotel was in an ideal position, the food and service was excellent and extremely good value

The friendliness of the staff, the location (very easy to find, with good access roads), along with the style of the hotel - being a converted abbey the style was charming and homely.

There were a few cobwebs in our room. The carpet was mix and match throughout the room. Little touches were missing, such as no biscuits in the tea and coffee facilities.

We have a little Yorkshire Terrier and this hotel accepts pets that why we booked it. The staff were very accomodating and welcoming of her and she was allowed in the lounge or bar when we had a drink. This made our stay. Breakfast was excellent and so was food in the evening in the restaurant.

The room was far too cold and I didn't get to sleep because of this.

Friendly staff, clean, good service big room only problem room 2's mattress was a bit hard otherwise a great hotel will return.

The surroundings were brill. It was clean and very comfortable

Staff were friendly, polite and efficient. Food was very good. Building and gardens were lovely.

Bed was like trying to sleep on iron

Our 2nd visit - selected because it offered comfort, style and an convenient location. Acceptance of our dog was also an important factor. There was only a s small cost differential between Maenan and a much simpler, less comfortable B&B. The manager and staff are really engaging and deserve praise.

Some fixtures in the room were tired and the wonderfully refurbished bathrooms had cosmetic issues. My tiler would have had a fit! As I say, they are cosmetic.

The facilities were not good at all. The shower dripped out, so couldn't have a shower. The toilet ran for about half an hour to refill (very noisy). There were cob webs in the corners of the room!! For the price i payed i could have stayed in a luxury room some where else. Also the reception area on arrival is awful to look at. First impressions were not good at all.

Location and breakfast, very good member of staff who works the reception and at serves breakfast. Bedroom 11 OK, good bed and shower, room does need some TLC though.

Needs a tidy up in corridors - randoms items left here and there, young staff in bar could be better, bar seating and tables could be improved, the men's toilet by the bar is a design disaster, the video screens are also a mistake, I think the owners need to keep things classic and simple.

The quietness of the hotel and the location, the facilities. Also the friendliness of the staff Food was good also.

There was nothing I didn't like. There were one or two things I would like to see altered to enhance the hotel and its running.I Felt the menu could have been altered more. The lighting on the landings was very dim, for anyone with poor eye sight.
