Smart, new and spacious hotel, room very comfortable, bathroom modern and well appointed. Helpful and friendly staff. Excellent restaurant. Great value. One of the few hotels we would have no hesitation is using again.
Our only caveat is that we found the pillows uncomfortable.
Spacious rooms, with bath and shower and large king bed. Room 105. Nice view out the window.
Everything. This place sets the standard by which all hotels everywhere should be measured. Fantastic!
Having to leave.
The owners of this hotel have obviously stayed in many hotels and noted what they like and what they dislike about other hotels and put all the good things into this hotel. All the staff smile and are extremely helpful, the room I had was large, as was the bath room. A well planned layout and even the mirror had lighting that I could actually use to shave with in the morning, unlike many I’ve been in. The restaurant on face value looks little expensive and a little restrictive menu, but the food is very good as was the house wine. I will be using this as my base when visiting my Office in the area.
Hard to fault.
The location was excellent, and the service at breakfast was fantastic.
Unfortunately the staff on reception we not very friendly, the customer service was very flat. The bed was very hard which for us led to not much sleep and caused my partners to have back pain for the duration of our stay.
Well decorated modern bedroom with good bathroom, views from bedroom, friendly staff on reception and in restaurant, quality and choice of food
Buffet breakfast table was not re-stocked so very little choice available on Sunday
Our room was very clean and modern, nice large bed and country views, reception very helpful.
The resturant was superb Staff really friendly and helpful at hotel
Not a complaint but downstairs room meant having to keep curtains shut in morning as people outside feeding fish!
Loved the location, ambience of bar/bistro and room bathroom. Staff in bar/bistro where very good and attentive.
The mattress in our room sank in the middle, the room lacked 'warmth & ambience', only had one armchair for a room clearly for two people and our main concern was staff taking 2+ hours to change our pillows when requested. Only happened when we went past reception and returned to room - staff did not know where 'non-feather' pillows where kept.
The large comfortable bed with views to a pond and open countryside. Also the food was good.
The overhead shower area without a door to enclose it so that water travels all over the bathroom floor is an example of design over substance.
Room with the balcony brilliant view.
Only had breakfast as I'm not one for posh food so we went to chesterfield for meal. Other wise it was alovely hotel.
Good location on edge of Peak District. Very spacious well appointed room with comfortable king size bed. Large roll top bath as well as separate shower in bathroom. Excellent restaurant in adjoining Red Lion.
Booked a room with balcony, but balcony was non existent - just a glass plate across the double opening external doors.
Modern, stylish , beautiful setting. Must comfortable bed we've slept in .
Menu in resturant limited, didn't cater for all tastes. Breakfast was very disappointing . Ran out of sausages & black pudding and the full English breakfast was very small, even for a child.
Staff were excellent. Room and rate first class. It was "fish" week when we stayed and although the menu was very fish specific and we are not fish food lovers we were accomadated.
The menu was very very fish specific as it was sea food week.
Loved the charming looks and old English feel. The size of the room was great, there was even a bath.
Great modern bedrooms which are large
Service bit slow in restaurant but a nice atmosphere.
location view from room spacious room comfort of bed friendly staff food
Limited facilities no pool expensive place for basically just a room
An excellent two nights, very comfortable, in an lovely rural setting. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Thank you Karen for a great room, a great shower and a comfortable bed! The breakfasts were so good - excellent scrambled egg and salmon! The evening meals were good. The location for a visit to Chatsworth House was really good too.
The noise of footsteps overhead as we were trying to sleep.
The friendliness of the staff.
The staff are excellent, very helpful and accommodating, very friendly, helpful, obliging and willing to go the extra mile to provide a service. Rooms clean and ready on arrival. Information about the hotel updated regularly, sometimes on a personal basis.
The suites we occupied were minimalist in design with very low sofas in particular making them difficult to get out of for older or less agile guests. Design of bathroom fittings whilst ultra modern were not comfortable for the less agile.
Great location, clean, well equipped room . Enjoyable evening meal at the Red Lion
Nothing really that we didn't like
Staff. food clean quiet.
Signpost so tasteful we missed it.
Staff extremely helpful, good comfortable rooms.
not enough lighting in the room. Almost impossible to apply make-up!
Staff, Room, food, facilities, views, location
Room facilitates were good and having a shower and large bath is good... very comfort beds
Breakfast was not good also limited options if you are a vegetarian - was given two mushrooms and a half tomato with toast. Menu for dinner at the Red Lion was too pricy and didn't see the value.
