Great location, clean, well equipped room . Enjoyable evening meal at the Red Lion
Nothing really that we didn't like
Staff. food clean quiet.
Signpost so tasteful we missed it.
Staff extremely helpful, good comfortable rooms.
not enough lighting in the room. Almost impossible to apply make-up!
Staff, Room, food, facilities, views, location
Room facilitates were good and having a shower and large bath is good... very comfort beds
Breakfast was not good also limited options if you are a vegetarian - was given two mushrooms and a half tomato with toast. Menu for dinner at the Red Lion was too pricy and didn't see the value.
Well appointed rooms. Excellent bed. Great location. The rooms in this hotel are outstanding quality.
The food and restaurant service let down this stay. Was expecting something special and got very average. To the point that I would not recommend this place to others.
Stunning location Friendly pleasant staff Good food
The best desserts I have ever come across!!
Location, service, fabulous rooms, food. This is a stunning hotel which I've used before
There is nothing not to like!
Very little to find fault with, the standard of the room and bathroom and was superb. Reception staff were extremely friendly yet very professional. The difference with this hotel was the little extras that put customer service at the forefront of everything.
The breakfast was excellent, fantastic choice and beautifully presented but we had dinner one evening in the bistro which was not quite up to the same standards, which was a shame.
Everything, no gripes from us!
Décor very modern, clean and fresh and classy. Very comfortable bed and linen and super bathroom, all amenities... all top quality hotel style and fulfilled expectations set up by the high price for the area. The pub/restaurant was also very warm and welcoming, with traditional stonework and beams.
- Couldn't get any food/snack on arrival (6pm on a Sunday) as they had a wedding on and couldn't cater for hotel guests! Very disappointing and just bad planning as far as I am concerned. They know in advance that they have bookings in the hotel. - Breakfast was below average. They had sold out of smoked salmon! (unbelievable in a good hotel!) Smoked haddock was tainted by other foods and the poached egg was hard. Full English consisted of an egg, half a rasher of fatty bacon, half a small tomato, a piece of black pud & a poor quality sausage. Toast was burned. And, after we had finished we discovered there was a continental buffet/OJ etc which the waitress had not mentioned! So, the restaurant unfortunately let the hotel down. And a personal gripe to Housekeeping...leaving dirty linen and towels on the guest chairs in the main hallway during changeover is just really tacky.
Luxury suites Modern bath/shower rooms with wetfloors Very good food/menu choice for a Bistro pub
Change of suite to fit around weddings (but last minute booking so lucky to find!) but second suite (York) best. Two waits for accompanying salad (suspect forgotten!) and a sweet unavailable Sat 23rd (busy evening!)
The peaceful location and the friendliness of the staff. Our room and bathroom were spotless and the food beautifully presented.
My only criticism is that a wider choice of vegetarian food would be welcome.
We stayed at this hotel whilst attending a funeral. The staff were so accommodating inasmuch as they let us book out later to accommodate the funeral timings. We dined in the Red Lion in the evening and were very impressed by both the food and the service. We will definitely be returning.
The location, view from our room. Hotel was immaculate, had everything that you needed for your stay. The food was outstanding for pub food and am now thinking of another reason to go again. This visit was for our wedding anniversary and would highly recommend.
Nothing to not like about it.
Peaceful location Quality of decor and ambiance Friendliness and efficiency of staff Outdoor space was lovely 10/10 for Brilliant burgers! Evening Meal.
Breakfasts little disappointing, not overly hot or tasty. Nothing else disliked.
Everything especially the bar and restaurant.
Location , quality of the accomadation
The view and surroundings and quiteness, even though there was a wedding going on we heard nothing!
good purpose built hotel in nice surroundings ideal for exploring the beautiful towns and countryside.
poor menu choice
All the personal touches, not your standard hotel.
Spaciousness of rooms and high level of appointments
Food at Red Lion disappointing - cooked breakfast was barely warm and evening meal very ordinary
Bed, room, shower, Karen very helpful
Pub next door, poor food, tiny portions and way over priced I.e. One Yorkshire pudding = £7!
bedroom was very good food was very good
food was a bit expensive could not afford to eat in every night
