Good room, food and facilities. Friendly staff. Fantastic location.
Wifi was not all that but not really bothered about that. If we had stayed longer than two nights might have been a nuisance. As it was we didn't mention it so that shows how badly it did not affect us :)
From check-in to check-out all of the staff we encountered were a credit to the hotel. In particular the Grill restaurant manager, who also managed breakfast, stood out for particular attention. The hotel's facilities were excellent and we would definitely come back.
My main course was served on a cold plate which meant it was only warm when it was delivered. The steak was excellent but, in my opinion, the whole menu in the grill was overpriced. A shame as it was the only negative about the whole stay.
Staff are very friendly and do not save any effort to help. Location is very romantic.
Wi-fi quality was poor. Also tried an Angus steak meal, which was below expectation.
Large rooms happy staff excellent food and very original
Difficult to connect to wifi
Breakfast was the best choice we have ever had! And it was great.
Everything was of very good quality and staff were friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Location was beautiful.
The lounge/bar was comfortable and the general ambience during the evening was pleasant, however it was a little dark on a Febraury day time.
Excellent service - particularly by the gentleman on reception who greeted us on arrival. We enjoyed every aspect of the stay.
Despite turning off the heating the room was too warm, even with the windows open.
Beautiful scenery, fantastic room, amazing hotel
Poor wifi in room
Lovely setting in the New Forrest. Good breakfast & evening meal. Friendly staff
The hotel is picture postcard but none of the rooms are in the building but a modern annex. So disappointing.
Very welcoming staff. Beautiful hotel. Very well appointed. Had an executive room overlooking the woods. Extremely comfortable with lovely bath and shower. Food in the grille wonderfully cooked. Equally good breakfast.
No signs to show you directions to various restaurants etc Very poor wifi reception and no one seemed inclined to sort it
Beautiful hotel set in stunning grounds, beautifully set out, very comfy, beautiful rooms.
What i didn't like? £13.40 for a pint of dry cider out of the bottle and a rum and diet coke, very pricey bar
Wonderful weekend at Rhinefield and the meal in Armada restaurant was top quality
Excellent service beautiful old building set in stunning grounds. Beautiful tiled private room, outstanding restaurant the wooden panels are great.
The trip from the reception to the rooms, the layout is very messy and just wrong. My partner hates it and will not come back again which is a shame because I love the hotel.... Problem is not sure how you can resolve it ??? Cold plates at dinner made my meal warm not hot.....staff scrapped my food onto a hot plate when we told them but it was too late as food was not hot so the meal was spoilt :(
The quality of service was excellent when I mde a complaint with regards to the room service's lack of understanding when palcing an order. The hotel itself is fantastic and I highly recommend this hotel.
Room service di not listen to what was requested andour party ended up with the incorrect order.
Impeccable staff but food in the Grill a let down. Wine great. Service superb. One hour and a quarter to get second course. Food tepid.
Steak in the Grill, not cooked as requested. Not browned off. Fish not plump. Portion small and over salted. Food tepid.
Amazing old house Lovely bed, comfy and huge! Turn down service and housekeeping amazing, nothing is too much trouble. Secluded location, perfect for relaxing.
Lack of signs, very tricky to find some amenities Slow service in bar and restaurant, with very hit and miss food, one day would be perfect and as expected for £10 a sandwich (and £14 a glass of wine), the next it would be supermarket sandwich quality. Lack of atmosphere in the lounge and restaurants - no background music meant it was deathly quiet.
Delicious food & excellent service Very friendly & helpful staff The bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept in Beautiful setting & location
The decor needs brightening up in the modern annex of hotel. The grill restaurant needs refurbishing.
The staff were extremely friendly, the room was comfortable, location good in the heart of new forest.
The spa facilities are very very basic. The pool is tiny and the jacuzzi wasn't on and only can fit two people. Expected more for the money. It's a nice hotel but lacks a bit of charm - a conference/wedding venue as opposed to something more unique.
classic rooms tiered, towel rail in bathroom was not working, therefore we had to change room. The bath was chipped all stating to look a little tatty.
The staff were very courteous and helpful, the hotel was a good mix of old style stately home and modern hotel. The food was of excellent quality.
There is not much not to like!
Setting and beautiful building + good staff and food.
Decor in public places is a bit dated - lacks colour.
Wonderfully comfortable beds, nice old character building and lovely staff. A truly enviable position in the forest and very peaceful at night. It was memorable listening to an owl hooting outside our bedroom window.
The restaurant was awful and should definitely be given a miss. Bathroom a bit tired with hooks hanging off the back of the door and intermittent internet signal.
We have often visited this hotel for drinks by the fountain/pond in the Summer and decided to stay for a night as it is expensive for the average person (£150 per night) which is good for keeping the riff raff out and we wanted a little bit of 'better than average' for a birthday treat. The staff are pleasant and helpful and the food is delicious. The facilities are good for a spot of pampering and relaxation. The grounds and surrounding peacefulness of the Forest are what attracts us to this hotel and in the Autumn the Forest is very beautiful for leisurely walks. The executive rooms are clean and comfortable and quiet. We do plan to stay again.
Only a couple of very trivial issues such as the remote control in the bathroom had run out of batteries and so we couldnt turn off the 'CBeebies' which was a bit annoying! Could do with some ambient lighting next to the main fountain/tables for some late romantic dining.
Friendly attentive and professional staff. Location. Food. Atmosphere.
