It is in an area of great natural beauty, lying between the edge of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, the Argyll Forest Park, and the spectacular seascapes of the west coast of Argyll, yet is very accessible (approximately a 90-minute drive from Glasgow) and makes a perfect base for touring and walking. Strachur village itself is well provided with amenities and has an excellent hotel which welcomes non residents for drinks and meals. The village also has a well-stocked general store with attached post office and tea room which serves informal meals, coffee and cake during the day.
