We had a smashing bedroom with a sitting room we came to Banbury for some R&R and we really got it, felt much rested after stay .
We could not eat in the hotel because of a wedding on Friday and an anniversary on Saturday room service was very expensive 50 pounds for 2 bowls of chips ,soup, and a plate of sandwiches.
very close to town centre good parking central position for exploring further afield if needed
Location and parking, restaurant meal was well cooked and presented if a little overpriced. Waiting staff were attentive and polite.
Reception staff were poor, had to wait for ten minutes to check in as the receptionist was dealing with another customer only to find that there was another receptionist in the back office that was 'too busy' to cover. Arrived at breakfast the next morning at 07:00 only to be told that it started at 07:30. All the literature in the rooms etc. said 07:00. Suggested to reception on check out that perhaps they should update the timings on everything to avoid any confusion in the future, got the feeling that this was not on the to do list!
shower room very small shelf over sink in wrong position easy to hit head on.
Staff were excellent, very friendly, courteous and helpful. Room was spot on brilliant wi-fi. We are in the restaurant and the food was delicious if a tad overpriced.
Unbelievable noise from the room above, walking around, banging, and loud TV from 3am. It did not stop even after complaining to reception. Will want a quieter room next time
Very narrow access to parking area could be a problem if you have a larger car
Very comfortable suite. Did not use any facilities as it was just a base whilst visiting relatives
We only had one nights stay but it was excellent room, service, staff good value for money, Many thanks
Location and proximity to town
Décor is a bit run down. No biscuits with tea making gear. Not enough milk and sugar in room. (We could have asked for more but didn't want it - nevertheless it seemed a bit mean to only provide 4 milks when a single mug needed 2. The bar had no crisps on Sat night.
Location. Reception staff particularly friendly and helpful.
Cleanliness! Bedlinen fine. Bathroom could have been cleaner, Carpets looked a bit tired and slightly grubby, as did a lot of the wallpaper. Time for Mercure to sharpen up as had same experience at another of their "period hotels".
The car park Central location Clean tidy rooms with good shower and facilities
Restaurant was expensive Walked away from the bar because there was no one to serve
GOOD STAFF GOOD LOCATION GOOD BREAKFEAST
ROOM TOO SMALL NOT PERFECTLY CLEANED NO MINI BAR
Convenience for the centre of Banbury and good car parking
A very noisy hotel with church bells opposite ringing every 15 minutes throughout the day and night. Plus noisy staff throughout the night patrolling the hotel and putting empty bottles out at 4 am. Not good.
Great location Fabulous breakfast Helpful staff
Solo travellers can get lost amongst weddings/functions
Location v good, beds fine, full of character.
creaky floorboards, road noise.
Friendly and helpful staff
I was asked if I would like to become a member of a loyalty scheme. The man on reception said I would hear soon and so far nothing! As I do stay at Mercures and Ibis this would be useful
Smokers outside the windows. .
Clean Room,Nice breakfast, polite staff
Had an adjoining room and the occupants next door were noisy and this prevented us having a peaceful nights sleep.
A lovely old coaching inn with very friendly and helpful staff and an amazing room!
Nothing to not like!
number of different sets of stairs from reception to room. Took a while to find the kettle in the room - wasn't really obvious
Staff who could not understand English. I asked for my room Guest to have Breakfast but as I was leaving at 0600 not for me . I was charged for two breakfast's it is not acceptable.
The new wing was superb ....very comfortable , clean and quiet
Staff bit slow !
Breakfast, poor , had been sitting in the hot trays far too long so all over cooked and several trays empty ie . No control for the tv in the room , although this was sorted very quickly .
Friendly staff, nice room with authentic wooden beams to give it some character, WiFi
Breakfast buffet was looking a bit congealed when we got to it on 9:30 on Saturday. Bathroom door a handle and lock didn't work very well. Carpets in the public areas were a bit worn although were fine in the room.
