FAQs about hotels in Budapest

A City of Two Halves

With a dome reminiscent of Brunelleschi’s "The Duomo" in Florence, the Hungarian parliament building is undoubtedly the icon of Budapest. It sits majestically by the Danube, the river that both divides and unifies the 2 parts of this capital city: Buda and Pest.

Overseeing Budapest from its vantage point on Castle Hill is Buda Castle. Spectacularly lit at night, it offers the best views across this attractive city steeped in World Heritage. Some unique points of interest are Heroes Square and the Museum of Terror, reminders of the city’s more turbulent past.

Much like in Vienna further up the Danube, coffee and cake is practically an institution in Budapest. And there’s nowhere better to try this than Gerbeaud - the elaborate décor alone makes this café well worth a visit.

To really feel like a local, make a trip to the thermal baths. The relaxed Gellért Baths are a triumph of Art Nouveau grandeur, while based on their sheer size, you can't miss the outdoor Széchenyi Baths. If unusual nightlife is your thing, the club nights at these baths are great fun.

With an impressive range of Budapest hotels, apartments and hostels on offer in this city of 2 halves, Booking.com makes your choice completely easy.

I have always liked the city, but the roads this year seem worse than ever. They are full of potholes and manholes that look like craters. Nervous and hastily drivers, without any traffic rules. It's possible that the fact it was the weekend of the F1 race influenced this as well.

It is a great get away city for 2-3 full days.

It is a great get away city for 2-3 full days. We stayed 5 days, but we went to a festival for 2 days and didn’t get to do everything else that we wanted to. Food was more expensive than expected and Hungarian cuisine was a bit of a disappointment. Would recommend the vampire tour and the cruise.

I did not realise how much I would love Budapest.

I did not realise how much I would love Budapest. Such a fun and vibrant city with so much to see and do (the caves, the baths, museums, galleries, churches (the Basilica is beautiful), great food, bakeries and patisseries wherever you go). The scale and architecture of the buildings are amazing. Being just a short flight from the UK it is a great destination for a 3 or 4-day city escape. Szentendre is also not far away and has a great Mediterranean feel if you'd like to venture further. Lángos (a deep-fried flatbread) is a great Hungarian street food which you've got to try when you're there. We will definitely be back one day.

Most underrated city in the world.

Most underrated city in the world. Fabulous architecture, history, culture & cuisine. Transport links are incredibly efficient & reliable. Download the BudapestGo app for all your travelling services. Better than google maps, as you can utilise the planner to reach your destination. With the exception of taxis & very few smaller stores, everywhere accepts card payments.

I just stayed on day, so can't offer a broad description.

I just stayed on day, so can't offer a broad description. The city is very nice, I stayed close to the river, so walked mostly in that area. Also visited the Museum of Fine Arts, which is full of art treasures and the building itself is amazing. Public transportation is OK. Buses require using tickets, which need to be bought on special kiosks, but on the subway is possible to pay with credit card directly. In general the cost to visit this city is less expensive than Vienna, to make a comparison.

All good for family with kids booking the family room with a separate sleeping room. It’s a very good price level. Location is easy via metro M4 and ideal for people coming by car as it’s just outside city centre and no traffic issues. ;) Breakfast is good. All in all what we need to stay a night or two in Budapest.

Very clean well set up rooms. Position of hotel is very close to City Park which has walks, thermal pools, skating rink and many historical buildings/monuments. Also, public transport is almost right outside hotel (metro is a short walk) so you can easily get into city centre and anywhere else in Budapest.

Cheap accommodation in Budapest, 10-20 minutes walk to the city centre. The hostel is at the main noisy street, but the hostel is actually in an inner courtyard, so there is no noise from the street. Staff is nice and helpful, speaks fluent English. Definitely worth the money.
