Alam Kita, hotel in Karimunjawa

Facing the beachfront, Alam Kita offers 3-star accommodation in Karimunjawa and features a garden, terrace and restaurant.

Our stay at Alam Kita was truly delightful! The food was exceptional, served with warmth and generosity by the fantastic staff. Everyone was incredibly helpful and friendly, making our time there even more enjoyable. The place itself was stunning, offering beautiful surroundings and a peaceful atmosphere. It's important to note, though, that since the apartments were partially open, we did encounter various animals both inside and near our accommodation. However, despite this, the experience was wonderful. I'd highly recommend Alam Kita for its great hospitality, delicious food, and the natural beauty that surrounds it.

Eco Casa Resort, hotel in Karimunjawa

Situated in Karimunjawa, a few steps from Barakuda Beach, Eco Casa Resort features accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace.

The owners are very nice and helpful, helped me organize a taxi, massage, and boat rental, and allowed to borrow a canoe and snorkeling equipment for free. Very close, there are already some coral and fish, enough for enjoyable snorkeling. A but further, but easily reachable with fins or a boat, there is a proper, big reef. Even further (boat rental needed but it is cheap), there is a small island with stunning coral reef. Restaurant food was mixed, but some things were really good, like fried noodles/rice or chicken in coconut milk sauce. Breakfasts were good, especially pancakes. They take ecology seriously, not only by name. They implemented a lot of ecological solutions. Overall, it was a great stay in a nice bungalow and in a lovely surroundings. All the time I've felt taken care of. I recommend it to anyone visiting Karimunjawa.

Loyal friend hostel karimunjawa, hotel in Karimunjawa

Located in Karimunjawa in the Central Java region, with Nirwana Beach and Pancuran Beach nearby, Loyal friend hostel karimunjawa provides accommodation with free private parking.

We LOVED our stay at the Loyal Friend Hostel. The hostel is cosy, there's plenty of space to chill and having breakfast in the morning on the terrace is just perfect. The room is clean, the bed is good and there's fresh mountain water coming out of the shower. Jahe, the hostel manager, is amazing and will help you with anything like renting scooters, booking snorkel tours or transport. We stayed 1 week in the hostel, but we could easily spend months here! Location is perfect: close to the harbour and main road with loads of places to have local or western food or coffee. We highly recommend staying at the Loyal Friend Hostel!!

L'isola che..., hotel in Karimunjawa

Located in Karimunjawa, L'isola che... Provides free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a bar and a shared lounge. Guests at the bed and breakfast can enjoy a continental breakfast.

We really enjoyed our stay at L‘isola che! We got picked up at the harbor because of the rain, what we didnt expect and was already a surprisingly warm welcome! The hostel itself has a nice and comfy common area with a bunch of cute dogs. John and Silvia werde really nice hosts- no matter which question, they had an answer, organised snorkeling trips, motorbike and so on. The breakfast was also amazing, fresh homemade bread, pancakes,.. and good coffee! We would definitely come again- thank you for the nice stay! 🙂

We liked the quiet atmosphere and lack of development. We found the choices of restaurants quite poor It was obvious the economy of the island was poorl as there were lots of unoccupied, poorymaintained properties. We hated the litter and lack of cleanliness on the island.

it was a good place, but not worth the effort needed to reach the island. you should specifically arrange a private trip and ask them to bring you to good spot on the sea, or else they will put you on a public group and bring you to a sub par spots to avoid the group from thrashing the corals.

Nice beaches, clean water. Bobby's beach was our favorite.

Nice beaches, clean water. Bobby's beach was our favorite. Some beaches are located within walking distance, you'll need a scooter for the others. You have to pay a cleaning fee to access some of the beaches but it's worth it, those beaches are spotless. You could call the island authentic but beware what you wish for. Not recommended for vegetarians or vegans. Dishes advertised on the menu are often not available: the famous sorry no have. Dirty general feel, open sewage in the center of the village, trash everywhere in town, and foul smell. Some rooms don't have flushing toilets, sink or mirror in their bathrooms. Worst of all are the mosques located every 100 meters, with their ear-deafening noise pollution that is guaranteed to wake you up at 4 am each day. No escaping them unless you stay outside the village but we've seen them in the middle of nowhere too. Dirty rooms, particularly bathrooms. I had to scrub the toilet clean before we could use it, it was filthy. And last but not least: the lack of hygiene in food preparation and sometimes what seems to be unlaundered bedsheets, pillowcases and blankets. Yuk

Karimunjawa is a real hidden gem.

Karimunjawa is a real hidden gem. It reminded me of the Gilli Islands 30 years ago. Hire a bike or scooter to get around and head down to watch the sunset . There is a really cool and friendly beach vibe, super friendly locals and some of the best white sandy beaches in Indonesia. You have to book in and do some tours of these islands, they are stunning! There is a night seafood market with pop up restaurants that serve superb food and fresh fruit smoothies. There are lots of cool little bars with live music in the evenings. Whether you are back packing through Indonesia or want a longer stay in a 5 star hotel, Karimunjawa has it all!

It's a beautiful island but we went at the wrong time.

It's a beautiful island but we went at the wrong time. Must avoid early January to late February. We actually got stuck on the island as the weather was too bad for the ferry to run, and the flights were fully booked...A 3 day visit turned into a week...of rain. Apart from that, amazing. TOP TIP...Hire a scooter

We came there in November 2019 and it was the best time to be there. Just a hand full of tourists, empty beaches and a chilled atmosphere. In the High Season it is pretty crowded there. The local people were really kind and there are many places to have good food. Indonesian food but also some places with kinda fancy food like smoothie bowls, etc., and a really good authentic western restaurant. The beaches are really as beautiful as they look on pictures and the water is crystal clear. There are many ATMs at the island and renting a scooter is also no problem. Overall it is a really authentic island where you feel at home really quick.
