Treacy's Hotel & The Waterfront Leisure Centre  

Internet was good and the room was comfortabe and stylish. Breakfast was good. The comment I read beforehand that the street outside was dangerous but "security" would keep you safe bore no relation to my own experience. It was a quiet locality and, although the road was fairly busy, the traffic stopped if you ventured anywhere near the crossing. Maybe there is more nightlife at the weekend. There was no security guard (or any need for one) during my stay! I suspect someone was having a joke.

These comments are only niggles and are not in any way serious drawbacks to choosing the hotel. The hotel should make it clear in advance that the parking for the hotel is across the road at the Waterfront Leisure Centre. On arrival there is no other parking possibility as the road is narrow and busy but it is pay parking (for over 15 minutes) so guests may be deterred from using it just to check in. In fact the hotel validates the parking ticket and it is easy to park and wheel luggage over using the zebra crossing. Plumbing was tiresome. The basin had been very badly cracked and the toilet took so long to refill that I initially thought the flush didn't work. Toiletries were bizarrely allocated - only conditioning shampoo in the shower but two types of bath/shower gel for the bath. These dispensers produced tiny amounts in different directions. The bathroom light has a motion sensor and allows very little time so a bath or even a short visit to the loo entails a number of periods of darkness. The light comes on unnecessarily even in daylight though.

The staff were amazing and couldnt do more to help. The kids club was an added bonus that we were not expecting and the 4 year old and 11 year old thought it was great.

Room, I think it was 201, very cramped. Almost impossible to move in room. Ensuite lovely. Room cold when entered. Idea of electric heater not very much in keeping with what is sold as a good class hotel.

Great location

Very disappointing after reviews.

Broken beds, stale smoke filled rooms, paint peeling off the walls, tiles coming off the floor, snooty restaurant staff... On and on..

Nothing other than the location was central however given the size of the town it would be difficult not to be.

The hotel clearly aims to cater mainly for large groups (eg) stags and hens, consequence being there is huge amount of noise - parties in rooms, shouting, running up and down corridors and the like.

Good central location

1) Parking is not on-site as advertised through booking.com; 2) No WIFI in my room as advertised. I was informed that the WIFI has not been working for ‘a couple of days’ as per the woman on reception in the evening. WIFI reception in the bar area was also poor; 3) Room key did not work on first attempt after check in, room door had to be reprogrammed; 4) There was a loud fan right outside my window which I was told would go off at 9pm, but which didn’t go off until 22.45 after I asked about this again; 5) There was no bedside light, which is very strange, especially as there are two switches either side of the bed head. When I enquired a second time I was informed that all the rooms have recess lights under the alcove in the bed area except my room; 6) The wooden panel above the luggage unit was hanging off the wall; 7) There is paint off the wall in several areas; 8) The carpet and the skirting board near the table and chairs was disgustingly dirty.

I didn't feel they are up to a 4 star rating. Aircon didn't work, poor breakfast and generally not very clean all round.

Friendly and unimposing, had a relaxing break, and, enjoyed our stay. Thanks
