Very friendly and accommodating hosts. Beautiful little house. Everything I wished for and more. The breakfast was more than I could have asked for - well, even though I was hungry, I couldn't finish it all.

A very beautiful, well-kept city with many interesting sights and entertainment options for different tastes and ages - castles, sightseeing towers, museums, parks, historical train, a lake, cafes with creative interiors (Pie Martas, Ogle un Tvaiks), etc.

In Aluksne you can combine three different things together - a small city tour, camping/hiking, beach pleasures.
Aluksne has it all! A very tidy, clean lovely little city near a big lake.
There are a lot of lake trails for hiking, campfire places, old buildings, castles you can visit. A very lovely beach, where you can rent whatever you like - row boats, sup boards and our favourite - paddle boats :D
There are a few boat trips to offer - one of them even have local folk song singing in the program :)
People are very friendly and it's not too crowded. Quiet, beautiful place.
Big enough to discover a place for the whole weekend, small enough to travel everywhere by foot.
Will go again :)

This was my second visit to Aluksne, park around the lake is taken care of, it is a very clean calm town, perfect for romantic walks, having rest, enjoying any time of the year. There are plenty of nice places to eat, like cafe 'Pie Martas' or 'Katrin krogs'.

Alūksne is a town well worth returning to every year because at least a thing or two will be new and unseen in it. The museum at the Palace will always have something new to show you, the wild Park is absolutely stunning, and the town itself is always clean and pleasant. Places to eat are GUSTIŅŠ in the very centre if you want really cheap, but very tasty food (1/1 portion soup and 1/2 portion of main dish around 4 EUR) and PAJUMTE (next to the bus station) which is more expensive (around 10 EUR per person will be a moderate meal). ALTIŅŠ is a cheap eatery, but it is cheap in every sense of the word (always smells of burnt oil badly and looks like a Soviet time canteen).
Apartment was clean and felt inviting. Host provided a number of useful items such as tea/coffee, toothbrushes, toiletries etc which we were especially grateful for after travelling. Apartment itself was lovely with a balcony to sit outside an extremely comfy bed! We arrived very late in the evening but the host contacted us beforehand so there was no problem gaining access to the property. Communication in general with the host was brilliant and we would definitely recommend it as somewhere to stay when visiting Aluksne.
The hotel is simple, but very decent.
Breakfast was surprisingly good, with bread, cold cuts, cheese, boiled eggs, juice, fresh fruit and yogurt.
Rooms and (shared) bathroom were clean and a set of towels was provided.
The common area offers a drinking fountain with hot water and tea. Something you don't often see in such small hotels.
It's a good place to spend one or two nights if you are travelling through the region.
Free and safe parking was provided.
Fantastic hosts! They live there as well and they treat you like family. Exceptionally big, delicious, hearty and varied breakfast - tell the owners your food preferences and allergies and they will consider them. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The location is quiet, with private parking, and not far away from the city centre. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and it will be our first choice when visiting Aluksne again.
We have stayed several times at Jolanta as we like the location and seclusion this friendly hotel gives. The staff are friendly and polite and the breakfast is good. The facilities in the hotel are good and the size of our room (suite 777) is excellent. Choice of beverage at the bar is good.
Simple hotel, but good enough if you just need to stay overnight, like we had while traveling from Lithuania to Estonia. The location is really central, if you plan to spend more time in Aluksne.
Breakfast is very basic, but we could not expect anything better at a price we paid.
Fantastic accommodation in the center of the charming town of Aluksne. Clean room, wonderful breakfast and extremely friendly owners. The lake is located in only 2 minutes walking distance, the church is right across the street and the New Castle of Aluksne is also nearby.
Such a nice little hotel! Clean, cozy, and the food is wonderful. We had dinner and breakfast there and everything was homemade & delicious. It was my favorite dinner of the trip. The owners are kind & welcoming. Would stay again!
Absolutely amazing location in front of the beautiful lake Aluksne. Great place for quiet country side walks, swimming and using a boat.
Tasty food, kind and helpful staff.
Easy access by car and parking place available.
We couldn’t have enjoyed our two-night stay more!! Guests should be prepared for a rudimentary stay in a boathouse. This is not a hotel. But the air, the view, the lake, the forest and the town yield huge rewards.
Beautifully renovated old hotel building with very cosy and comfy rooms and superb breakfast located next to the old train station. Super friendly and helpful staff. Best hotel in Alūksne, higly recommended.
Breakfast was prepared a la carte with a hot entree and continental items. Owner friendly and "hands on" to promptly satisfy all my needs. Owner was eager to share the history of his hotel and Aluksne.
