If you love history, great food and friendly people visit izmir. I'm happy we included izmir in our trip to Turkey. Knowing what I know now of izmir and the area, I will stay longer next trip to take in more of the sites and culture.

Nice city. I went for work reasons. I think there aren't so many places to visit. The beach is quite far form the city centre, so i didn't visit it. People are extremely nice and helpful, in each and single occasion, but only very few speak English. This can be a little exhausting if you don't speak Turkish. I drove from Istanbul to Izmir a scenic drive. Pier was a nice place to visit and dine by Mediterranean. Those staying at Ontur hotel must have food at Erdogan Resturant just two mins walk. It is the only place available 24 hours in this vicinity. But beware portions are too big so order based on your appetite.57Pakistan
