Beautiful venue overseeing the see and very close to the center of the town. a good balance between the comfort of a grand hotel and the cosiness of a medium size hotel. Staff really incredibly kind and willing to make you enjoy the place. We loved it !

the breakfast is quite possibly one of the most incredible things about this hotel. They provide it with your reservation, and it is cooked for you, offered in the room or at a beautiful outdoor courtyard on property with a fireplace. The staff was very helpful, and offered amenities like free rides up the hill to the center of town. This hotel is down by the beach, just a block away, which is why I chose to stay here vs 6 blocks up hill in the center of town. It is quiet, private, a nice sanctuary. they place a lot of emphasis on their spa and the bathrooms. Those latter are amazing, each (I believe) has a tub with bath salts, etc, plus robes, slippers. I did not try the spa, but it seemed to be a destination for many of those staying there. (We were there in the offseason, February). The hotel’s food is quite good too although we only had snacks and a couple drinks at their bar. I believe the rates are a good value, for what you receive.

Lots of nice shops; restaurants pretty expensive but had good food in the two places we ate. Need more days in order to get in all we would have liked: beach; walking; photography. Weather was perfect.

Carmel is an incredibly charming town surrounded by gorgeous nature. Great boutiques, great restaurants, and great scenery. The downside is that it can get very very crowded and it is super expensive.

Carmel is such an enchanting village!!
Carmel is such an enchanting village!! The shops and art galleries are amazing! The trees and flowers that line all the streets are lush and mature- as the trajectory of the town slopes down gradually to the most beautiful white sand beach that spreads for miles along the Monterey Bay!! There are many dining options and coffee shops too. Truly a world class destination❤️

It is a beautiful, classy, step back in time village with a lovely beach at the foot of Main Street. Dozens of attractive, luscious cafes and restaurants within the several block main shopping area. Great designer shops, local and International. It is expensive for a middle class traveler, but not out of reach. Such wonderful ambiance and not snooty. Across from Tiffany's is the local Drug Store with hysterical greeting cards for $3.66. BARGAIN! Not for kids - too slow.
Also, it is great to be a 10 minute drive from a much cheaper and more active Monterey, with many activities for children and adults. A double dose of California at its best.

Carmel is a great beach to visit.
Carmel is a great beach to visit. Very pretty surrounding area, white sandy beach. But water is cold! Carmel in general tends to be very rainy/cloudy. Its not necessarily "lay out and tan" kind of vibes. But more walk the beach, play fetch with your dog, find a good nook to read a book, surf if thats what you're into.

Such a neat little town, some areas look like a fairy village according to my wife. Definitely a art town as there are a lot of art galleries. Overall it is such a cute little town with lots of cool little shops to visit and sights to see.
Unlike a hotel or motel, these are cabins, so you don't hear noises from neighboring walls. Set in a lot of foliage, trees, bushes, flowers, grass, great small pond surrounded by lounge chairs and tables and chairs, a River Rock BBQ pit, pretty, clear small lights strung over and about; quiet, room itself very comfortable and everything worked; close enough to drive to the enchanting Ocean Ave. Downtown Carmel by the Sea shops within 5 minutes, to enjoy all of the wonderful shops and restaurants.
This property is located within walking distance of everything in Carmel by the Sea. Check-in was easy and Inge was very helpful showing us everything on the map and giving us parking instructions. It was great to have a fireplace in the room. The room had a fridge, microwave and coffee supplies. There are tables outside to have a glass of wine (you can borrow glasses from the office) or lunch and enjoy the pretty flowers on the grounds. It’s an older hotel but charming and well taken care of.
The location was great. Just on the end of downtown Carmel closer to the beach. We didn’t drive the whole time we were there, walked all around Carmel and also down to the beach daily. The hotel takes up about a whole block with El Fornaio restaurant and a few shops on the ground floor. The rooms are spread out, not your typical setup with hallways. Our room was quite large with a sitting area separated from the bedroom by folding doors and it was quiet at night. Loved all the windows.
Conveniently located off of Hwy 1, a few miles north of Point Lobos State Park and within short drives to downtown Carmel, Pacific Grove, Monterey, 17-mile drive (Pebble Beach). Bonus: The Crossroads Plaza is a mere .2 miles away. Our room in the upstairs of the main building: Clean & comfortable w/ a balcony overlooking Carmel River; comfy king-sized bed. Quiet refrigerator, good television. Perfect for a 2-night Monterey Peninsula getaway.
‘Would stay again when in the area.
We love Carmel By the Sea and we absolutely LOVED this Inn. Location was perfect and so close to many shops and restaurants. It is also very close to Big Sur and Monterey. Our room was perfect for us for our Anniversary stay. Room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The employee that checked us in was very polite and helpful. Parking for our room was right under our room which meant no one downstairs. Another nice feature!
The cottage was beautiful and everything is so clean. I love how we aren’t connected to another room which allows for more personal space and peace and quiet. We stayed in a new cottage and it’s beautiful and more than we could ask for. It didn’t feel like we were in a hotel, which made for a more comfortable stay. I appreciate the dog friendly policy.
This was the most comfortable, romantic and elegant hotel we could have wished for. It was our 10th anniversary and so lovely to snuggle up in the light of the fire after we’d been out for our celebratory dinner to Pocket in Carmel. It was my favourite hotel and Carmel was my favourite place in the whole of our trip down the West coast of America.
Large rooms, modern aesthetic and looked new-ish.
Location was good, just off the highway and about 5 mins from Carmel-by-the-Sea
Right next to a gas station and shopping center which was convenient. Overall, great for a short stay esp if you find the Carmel hotel rooms too tiny/in need of updation.
This hotel was perfect for our one night stay in Carmel to attend a concert. It was bright and cheery, very comfortable, clean and a 5 minute stroll into the middle of Carmel shopping. We would be happy to stay here again. Great value in an amazing town and county.
Service and food were exceptional, everything has been recently renovated and is super comfortable. I was able to work remotely from the hotel and enjoy Carmel later in the day, with the beach just 1min away. The hotel is brand new and I can’t recommend it enough!
loved that it was affordable and that is was so convenient to downtown Carmel. walking distance to restaurants, cafes and shops.
I was happy they were so dog friendly! oh and the pillows were nice!
One of the best hotels I stayed at. Everything is brand new, the staff were amazing, very helpful.
The breakfast was excellent too, nice gourmet dishes.
Highly recommended!
The beds, this was the best nights sleep I’d had in a hotel ever, so comfortable. Location was right in the heart of Carmel and an easy drive to Monterey. Historic and clean.
Everything! The location is spot on, parking is easy, and the staff were wonderful. The little extras that are included make this hotel have a boutique feel. We loved it.
