Beautiful venue overseeing the see and very close to the center of the town. a good balance between the comfort of a grand hotel and the cosiness of a medium size hotel. Staff really incredibly kind and willing to make you enjoy the place. We loved it !

the breakfast is quite possibly one of the most incredible things about this hotel. They provide it with your reservation, and it is cooked for you, offered in the room or at a beautiful outdoor courtyard on property with a fireplace. The staff was very helpful, and offered amenities like free rides up the hill to the center of town. This hotel is down by the beach, just a block away, which is why I chose to stay here vs 6 blocks up hill in the center of town. It is quiet, private, a nice sanctuary. they place a lot of emphasis on their spa and the bathrooms. Those latter are amazing, each (I believe) has a tub with bath salts, etc, plus robes, slippers. I did not try the spa, but it seemed to be a destination for many of those staying there. (We were there in the offseason, February). The hotel’s food is quite good too although we only had snacks and a couple drinks at their bar. I believe the rates are a good value, for what you receive.

Lots of nice shops; restaurants pretty expensive but had good food in the two places we ate. Need more days in order to get in all we would have liked: beach; walking; photography. Weather was perfect.

Carmel is an incredibly charming town surrounded by gorgeous nature. Great boutiques, great restaurants, and great scenery. The downside is that it can get very very crowded and it is super expensive.

Carmel is such an enchanting village!!
Carmel is such an enchanting village!! The shops and art galleries are amazing! The trees and flowers that line all the streets are lush and mature- as the trajectory of the town slopes down gradually to the most beautiful white sand beach that spreads for miles along the Monterey Bay!! There are many dining options and coffee shops too. Truly a world class destination❤️

It is a beautiful, classy, step back in time village with a lovely beach at the foot of Main Street. Dozens of attractive, luscious cafes and restaurants within the several block main shopping area. Great designer shops, local and International. It is expensive for a middle class traveler, but not out of reach. Such wonderful ambiance and not snooty. Across from Tiffany's is the local Drug Store with hysterical greeting cards for $3.66. BARGAIN! Not for kids - too slow.
Also, it is great to be a 10 minute drive from a much cheaper and more active Monterey, with many activities for children and adults. A double dose of California at its best.

Carmel is a great beach to visit.
Carmel is a great beach to visit. Very pretty surrounding area, white sandy beach. But water is cold! Carmel in general tends to be very rainy/cloudy. Its not necessarily "lay out and tan" kind of vibes. But more walk the beach, play fetch with your dog, find a good nook to read a book, surf if thats what you're into.

Such a neat little town, some areas look like a fairy village according to my wife. Definitely a art town as there are a lot of art galleries. Overall it is such a cute little town with lots of cool little shops to visit and sights to see.
Nice to be in town, but not flooded with main street tourists. Quiet but still close to everything. This hotel has Carmel Valley Roasters coffee in the rooms and lots of beautiful blooming flowers everywhere you look. The parking is also exceptional as there is a drive through loop behind the hotel and lots of spaces so you are not afraid to drive out for day trips for fear of losing the only space you've got. My dogs were very happy here as well. Super nice staff. Thanks!!!
We loved our stay at this stunning hotel. Beautiful inside and out, and in the perfect location for exploring Carmel. We could see everything we wanted to by foot, including the beach (just prepare for the climb on the way back up!) and fairytale cottages. The breakfast was delicious, and the wine and nibbles every afternoon was a brilliant touch - we loved it and spent a few hours every day of our stay enjoying the wine in the sunshine. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Classic traditional California golf course resort, understated and quiet. Not flashy or glitzy, just a comfortable and pleasant retreat in a lovely valley close to the best of the California coast. The rooms are welcoming and warm, like a very upscale condo more than a five star luxury hotel. The walks along the greens are punctuated by moments of zen-like beauty, with views of native plants, birds, and the distant hills.
one of few hotels in Carmel by the sea that has property for a garden and a small pool.
beautiful grounds, comfy lobby and restaurant area open to seating all day.
wine and sangria in the afternoon. wonderful breakfast included in the stay.
4 min walk to the beach and the towns restaurants. they provided a shuttle to and from town.
the staff is super friendly and accommodating.
Location was fantastic. Had breakfast each morning at the bakery across the street. Easy walk to everything. Housekeeper was quick and efficient. Room layout was a bit unusual as you had to go through the bathroom to get to the bedroom. The motel itself is older with rooms open to the outside; however, we never felt that was a security issue in Carmel by the Sea.
Excellent location, with the town of Carmel less than a 10-minute walk and the beach just a little over 20 minutes on foot. The outdoor communal area at the hotel was a nice touch and we enjoyed relaxing there in the evening after wandering around the town, with comfortable seating, and fires to keep us warm when the temperature dropped off.
Loved hearing she creek and birds and frogs when the door was open. The bed and room was comfortable with a nice view. Conveniently situated just driving into the Carmel area on the Cabrillo Highway and a short drive from Carmel by the Sea.
It was a great stop for us as we were otw from Napa Valley heading towards Malibu. We had a good rest and we enjoyed Carmel town and it's beautiful eateries and stores. Everything we needed was nearby eg gas station and eateries
This property is in Carmel and is very affordable. The bed was comfortable and the room was reasonably sized. The wifi worked. It was nice not to have anyone over top of us in our room. They are dog friendly for a reasonable rate.
The hotel room was comfortable and clean. The room was cozy, with limited space to move around and small shower, but still very comfortable. Staff were very friendly. Excellent location to explore Carmel, as it is in the centre.
Unimpressively mediocre room for a ridiculous 5 star boutique hotel prize. I come frequently to Carmel and check out new locations to stay. This place will become one of the more unpleasant memories.
loved that it was affordable and that is was so convenient to downtown Carmel. walking distance to restaurants, cafes and shops.
I was happy they were so dog friendly! oh and the pillows were nice!
The beds, this was the best nights sleep I’d had in a hotel ever, so comfortable. Location was right in the heart of Carmel and an easy drive to Monterey. Historic and clean.
The staff was very friendly,. and having a kitchenette was very helpful. The bed was quite comfortable.
For Carmel by the Sea, the room was a good value.
