This accommodation is just a 2-minute drive from Aesch train station. Gasthof Mühle offers a restaurant with a garden terrace. Room was good, bed was comfie, close to transport.

Located in Ormalingen, all of Landgasthof Farnsburg’s rooms have views of the surrounding hilly landscape, meadows and forests. The restaurant serves fresh, local products. This one was a surprise. I didn’t realize it was so far from Basel when I booked. Probably would’ve stayed closer to the city but it was an interesting experience. You’re out in the country! There’s a working farm on the property with bison. It’s off the beaten path but beautiful with hiking trails. Our room with a view was big with comfortable bedding and a thick robe for going to the shared bathrooms. Nice patio with a view and elegant dining room. We rented a car to get there.

Offering an à-la-carte restaurant, Landgasthof Hirschen is located in Diegten off the A2 motorway and a half-hour drive from the centre of Basel. Outstanding dinner, extraordinary friendly staff. Cozy atmosphere.

Set within the Pratteln-Schweizerhalle industrial area only 150 metres from the Schweizerhalle marina of the Rhein, Gasthof zur Saline provides free parking and good connections to Basel. Lovely staff, lovely place. I chose it because it was the cheapest option with a private bathroom I could find in Pratteln - turns out it was a good choice. The lady at the check in was very nice and helpful. The place is beautiful, with gorgeous flowers at the windows outside. The hallway going to the room looks pretty and cozy. The room was wonderful - clean, practical and tastefully decorated. There's a safe deposit box, a mini fridge if you need to store fruit or something, a cosmetic mirror in the bathroom. The WiFi was excellent and you had the possibility to charge your devices via USB or power outlet right next to the bed. There's a busy street outside, but the window does a good job of keeping the noise out when you close it. It's pretty close to the Z7, which is very convenient if you want to see a concert there. Pretty close to a couple of stores. There's also some kind of chocolate factory nearby, so the air in the area smells like chocolate at times (tip: there's nice chocolate at a very good price to be found at the factory store). Maybe not the best location for other purposes like sightseeing though.
