Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United Arab EmiratesThere was no heater in my room, and as we went in winter, it got quite cold at night. Just ask for a heater and they will provide it. Berat the city is all hills, so there's a LOT of uphill and downhill walking for everything. So if you're not used to that or are not fit or healthy, it can take some effort.
One of the BEST 'Bed and Breakfast' experiences in my life. This property has breathtaking views from its terraces, and is a very homely, cosy and well maintained family home that has been built to help tourists experience a more authentic version of Berat in Albania. The owner Aleksander and his lovely wife were extremely friendly and helpful. She makes the breakfast herself, fresh, every morning for you. They use fresh mandarins they grow themselves, for ingredients. Additionally, the city center is a mere 2 min walk from the hotel. The room is large enough for a B&B, with a queen size bed and thick blankets as well as a mini fridge. The bathroom is excellent. NOTE: The area is all uphill and downhill, and the parking is a slight walk from the property, so pack ONE case with the essentials you need for a stay in this hotel and you'll be fine carrying it up to the property. You can leave the rest in the car.

GermanyIt was a bit confusing to arrive. The hotel is behind a bank which is also so beautiful that doesn’t seem like a bank but rather like another hotel.. so we failed to see the bank… therefore it was impossible to find the hotel without the owner coming to rescue us. He came for us and then it was okay. Also we understood that he was offering free parking but actually he means there’s a free city parking somewhere near by… we could park paying 2EUR in a space owned by another family. Also, we ordered a glass of wine and didn’t ask for the price so we were a bit surprised to pay 8EUR a glass, it was worth it because it was very good, but maybe ask for the options and the price before ordering. The bed was a bit bend in the middle so not 100% comfortable. Other than that everything was really nice.
The hotel is just beautiful. We were astonished with everything. Super clean as well. The view is also unique and the host is super super nice and very polite. We were happy with our stay and recommend 100%

CanadaHauling our bags up from the street. But the owner and his helper made it easier.
It is unfortunate to be up high in the city of a thousand windows and stay in a dark room with no view after having booked four months in advance and making a request. However, the hotel itself is attractive, clean and well organized, the owner is very friendly and helpful, the viewing patio areas on top are beautifully done, the breakfast is excellent, the location is great and we would not hesitate to stay there again.

United KingdomMinus: breakfast is disappointing despite nice plating of fresh fruit and cheese. There is no menu or variation over the two days we stayed.The host just brings several different breakfast items - cake, bread, jam, honey, the ubiquitous Albanian breakfast pancake, hard boiled egg.. The coffee is of very poor quality, no espresso machine, tea is in teabags (no teapots), processed fruit juice, no choice of egg preparation,only hard boiled eggs which are over boiled with blueish sulfide around the yolk.Cake tastes like it is from a mix with added sprinkle of confectioners (icing) sugar. If you don't enjoy walking up steps or steep roads this hotel might be challenging.
Ideally located within easily walkable distance between the castle and the promenade. Plus: The hotel is lovely, spread out over different levels, traditionally furnished, very clean, with a very comfortable bed, good shower (but only an after eight mint size soap for two days) in a new bathroom. It is run by a friendly and helpful host-owner more like a bed and breakfast as the only staff is the owner and one other it seems. Rooms have fridge, drinking glasses but no kettle or comps (e.g. tea).Breakfast area in Sept. is on open terrace with beautiful view of Berat. There is no dedicated parking but the owner refers you to his acquaintance who charges a nominal fee. The host also helps with luggage as the hotel has no elevator and is located on a steep hill. Nonetheless it is a charming hotel run by an attentive owner, good value for money despite the disappointing breakfast.

Bosnia and HerzegovinaVery kind host, thanks to Mr. Aleksander and his family. The terraces are full of well-groomed flowers, and the owner's desire to make the space as pleasant as possible is clearly visible The Villa is located in the historical quarter of the beautiful city, the proud name of Berat. We are sorry because we only stayed one day, next time we will stay longer.

CanadaThere isn’t really anything bad to say. Maybe just that the ac unit could have been a little more powerful but in the end we opened the windows and got a nice breeze which was more than enough.
Location was excellent and the room was fantastic. Breakfast far exceeded expectations. The property itself is magical. The best part was the people who owned/ran it. Aleksander and his wife were extremely welcoming and friendly and did whatever they could to make our stay wonderful. As a male couple this was very much appreciated in a country where this isn’t always the situation. Thankyou!

ItalyDifficult parking; Difficult to have breakfast because of too much bees flying around the food;
Very large and beautiful room; The hotel is just in the middle of the medieval city centre ; The place, that has also a magnificent terrace, is beautiful, built in 5 years from the owners themselves, using the typical stone of Berat;

NetherlandsAleksander is a lovely and kind host. The hotel has the two terraces with a great view over Berat. The hotel is already five generations in Aleksander’s family and he did a wonderful job renovating it keeping the old style, but also making it modern (e.g. airco, nice bathrooms etc). We loved it here!

BelgiumThis is a real gem! The guesthouse is hidden in the heart of Berat (might even be difficult to find the entrance but someone will definitely show you the way) and offers a beautiful view of the city. The owners are very kind, and despite the fact that they could not prepare dinner due to an electricity shortage, their sweet little daughter suggested a very good address where we spent a lovely evening! Thank you!
