Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

TurkeyRoom is smell weird, also you can hear any noise because doors are too thin. Whenever someone open their doors or walk though the corridor, you feel they are in your room.
Historical building, very close to center

United KingdomUnderstandably, sound proof was not part of the plan when the building was raised in the 19th century. Better bring/provide a pair of earplugs.
Unique experience of living in a nun’s cell :) Staff were extraordinarily friendly. Fascinating location. Walking distance to the university and allows you to explore the quieter side of the city centre and the excellent local cafes.

NetherlandsSuch a special location to visit and stay at! The place has a great ambience. Important to expect the shared showers as it's not for everyone, but it was fine for me. There are slippers and a bathrobe to use as you walk between the bedroom and bathroom. I really enjoyed the stay.

AustraliaIt meets expectations and quite nice stay for a night to explore Ghent
This is an old monastery that's why the facilities are on the floor. The building is amazing, very beautiful, it is not far from city center on the quite street. It can be a bit noisy from the corridor though

United KingdomSimple accommodation (it's an old monastery, after all!) but a strong sense of history and great location. Small comfortable room with sink. Shared showers and toilet but never had to wait and they were clean. Great for the solo traveller wanting to explore Ghent. The breakfast was truly outstanding with lots of hot and cold options. Lovely dining area. Looks like it's also set up to host conferences. Would definitely stay there again.

United KingdomThe mosquito repellant in the room was not filled and I was bitten 7 times. Because the room was shaded for most of the day it was the side with the most insects and even with the windows shut I still ended up squashing mosquitoes in my room every night. But I recognise that there is little the hotel could do about this apart from providing more repellant.
For the price of the room I was very satisfied. The fittings in the room were practical and nicely done, and it still felt like I was in an old monastery.

AustriaThe power socket close to the bed didn't work. And there was a fire alarm at 5:30am.. not a word of explanation or excuse from the staff.
Staying in a comfortable cell of a former monastery is a real treat! The breakfast was fantastic with salmon and sparkling wine!

CanadaThe toilet nearest my room did not have a separately locking door, which made me a little anxious. It was a little expensive for what you get.
The room was comfortable. The free wifi was good. Instant coffee and tea were available close to the room. It really is an old monastery, which is really cool. The location was excellent - a great base for exploring historic Ghent.

NetherlandsNot too luxurious, but what you see is what you get.
Cute old monastery turned into a guesthouse. It still has that old feeling (don't know if it's a good or a bad thing). It's a no thrills place, but for that money, it's a pretty good deal.

A monastery is a perfect place to stay for a unique vacation experience. Be ready for a shared bathroom 20m away from you room and creaking doors and floor. Pricey, but impressive breakfast (22EUR) - served with sparkling vine, salmon, pancakes, cheese, meat and cakes selection :)

United KingdomThe breakfast option looked expensive but I used a nearby bakery.
The hotel was close to the historic centre of Ghent with good access to trams and buses. My room was comfortable, the shared showers and WC were close, clean and modern. A dressing gown and slippers were provided in the room for my use. For the centre of Ghent the room price was very reasonable.
