Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The breakfast was expensive so we didn't have it. Location was great for us as we were arriving by train, but it's probably a little out of the way for people wanting to be near the sights.
Friendly welcoming staff, clean and smart hotel. Convenient location for the railway station.

There was no parking available. I had to find a place outside, and in the meantine the receptionist refused my family to enter the room (waiting for my Credit Card). It was late night. Again, the receptionist charged my card with additional 90 CHF without providing any explanation. I discovered only by asking that it was a protection for potential extras. No sense to me charging a potential cost in advance.
The room was good enough, although the second bed was too small for 2 adults.

Not many alternatives for dinner around.
The location was good utilizing local transportation and was close to landmarks & places to visit. The staff were friendly and addressed all needs & questions.

Excellent stay at Novotel which was very clean and large rooms for the family which were great. Parking under the building was safe and secure. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The free Basel card also meant we could catch the tram into the city centre for free and have dinner and the staff were super helpful to point us in the right direction.

i could not secure a place for my electric car (to recharge it overnight). i would have loved to be able to book the room and make sure i have charger available.

Great location, very clean room, children got a little present upon arrival. Cool thing is the Basel card so that we could move around with public transport for free.

The WiFi was patchy and dropped out for me and my colleagues several times. Not great for a hotel in a business district.
Staff were friendly, breakfast was good (although got a bit stale towards the end of breakfast service).

Nice and spacious room for a family of 4 (1 6-year old and 1 6-month old). We were given day trip passes for the trams which made it very convenient to move around. Staff were very friendly and accomodating for all our requests.

it was all good
breakfast was for extra charge (CHF 30 per adult and kids free). the hotel was very modern and clean. Big shout out to Tarek from the main bar for his generosity. the hotel location was just 2 stops from the main train station via light rail. very accessible by public transport.

Coffee machine was slightly inconsistent, it kept eating our pods without making a coffee… a minor issue that didn’t affect our stay.
Lovely staff who were very helpful. A spacious room which was perfect for our family of 3. My 1 year old daughter was severely sick twice in the early hours of our first night, we received fresh bedding almost instantly and upon returning to the room the next day it was refreshed perfectly as it was upon our arrival. This was very much appreciated and helped alleviate a lot of stress.
