Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

BelgiumThe water from the shower had a sewer smell, not very pleasant. Our room was adjacent to the neighbors, who made a lot of noise (there are openings on the ceiling, sealed for insects but not soundproofing)
A hostel run by a very friendly family. The hostel is quite far from the bus station, so Cecilia's daughter arranged a (cheap) tuktuk for us. Free coffee in the morning and we were also given pieces of fruit (guanabana). Rooms are okay in size and comfort. Ceiling fan worked well and was sufficiently cooling for us. Price quality more than oké.

Great family running the place. Really enjoyed talking with Tito as well. The family also gives great advise about different questions. Nice room to enjoy, it was very clean, and is very well kept.

United States of AmericaPuerto Viejo is very hot and with no AC in the hotel sleeping is uncomfortable. There are numerous fans which did help a little.
Large room and bathroom perfect for our family of 5. Beds comfortable, towels comfortable, hot water in the shower. Owners very friendly and helpful. About a 10 minute walk into the center of town. Parking on premises. Sweet dogs. Refrigerator, rice cooker and cooking utensils provided.

United States of AmericaA majority of the guests there during our stay were working in town. They were all nice but it made for a less tranquil environment. Lots of loud talking in the communal area, video chats and and such till later on at night. Place didn't feel calm and didn't make us want to relax at the property.
Staff was nice and overall the place was clean.

GermanyToo many people loud talking made it impossible to sleep. Tito was helpful and asked them to be quiete. But the thin walls let through everything people are doing and talking about.
Tito was very lovely and always helpful. There are hammocks and the area is very quiet without music from bars or restaurant.

GermanyI would have enjoyed a private terrace. Room was a little hot, but only at day and I had a lot of mosquitos, more than at other places.
Very nice and welcoming hosts. Always asking if everything is fine. Provided fresh coffee and tea all day, which I appreciate a lot. Room was comfortable. I liked to have a small kitchenette in my room and also could use the gas stove outside. A short walk from the center, but easy to get around. You can also rent bicycles at the hostal.

RomaniaThe rooms are very close to each other, and in the morning it can be a little bit noisy as people talk and walk around. But not a big issue at all. Kitchen is quite small one room per time to cook.
Our room was excellent, big and we'll equiped with two fans. Bathroom big, and kitchen with fridge sink , some basic plates and cups, no cooking. The external kitchen at the back of the house is really cute , enough for two to cook. All staff was really friendly with us and the cleaning was the best!!! Big applause for the cleaning lady. Parking is a plus, but if you have a big car you may not be able to park inside. FREE WATER AND COFFEE/TEA INCLUDED!!

United KingdomThe bed was not the comfiest and because we stayed below other people, we could hear quite a lot e.g dogs running and the sweeping of the floor, but I’d still definitely stay again!
Cecelia is an amazing host! She went out her way to help us. The room was really big and it was cleaned each day. The bicycles are a good idea, we hired them each day to get to the beaches and the nature reserve.
