Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThe only upgrades I wish they would make would be comfier beds and a comfier living room area / cushioned outdoor furniture. I was missing a couch after two weeks. ;) Also, guests should be prepared to not flush toilet paper, as their sewage system is not robust.
Hotel Manglar is the best!! This was our fourth stay here, and it never disappoints. Its proximity to the beach is unbeatable, and so is its staff. The grounds of the hotel is a total paradise.... just lush beauty, even in the heat of summer. Can't wait for many more stays at Manglar!!

CanadaWe enjoyed having the shared kitchen because we like to eat breakfast and lunch by the pool without having to go to restaurants allll of the time. However it could really have used a couple of sharp knives and maybe a newer non-stick pan just to make our stay even better. They only had one knife which had a broken handle and could cut fruit or veggies with it but that was my only complaint, everything else was great
Lovely property in a quiet community, there are 4 really good restaurants in the village, a small shop which sells the essentials and it’s about 20 min walk to the water taxi to Tamarindo. We really loved staying here. The rooms were a decent size, the pool area was lovely and never crowded. The front desk girls were so friendly and helpful, and it was steps from the beach! Just fantastic

United States of AmericaThe coffee arrangement was not at all convenient.
We did not try the bkft. The room was clean, the bed was good, the linin on the beds was good, not fantastic but ok and air conditioner worked great. What we didn’t like was the coffee maker. We are coffee drinkers in the morning and the pots they have in the room are very small and they allow only two pods a day, after that you pay 2 dollars a pod. We were constantly looking for pods or trying to find good coffee which was hard to come bye. They pool is lovely, the grounds are well maintained and the short walk to the ocean is nice.

PolandRooms would be equipped better - Def lacking a closet, some cup for brushes etc. 4 pillows and a huge duvet is redudant when it's 35 C and you don't have anywhere to storage it. Some other minor details but the closet was the biggest isue. Still - didn't spoil the overall experience:)
The common area was ideal! Nice pool with a big lounge, resting area, common kitchen, everything you would need! Beach is right beside the corner, huuuge spacious and totally empty! There we were like 10 people on a huge beach during the whole day... We went to Tamarindo for one day and quickly rush back! The staff was extremely lovely and helpful to our every need, one can really feel like in a luxury hotel:) Even though some minor inconviniences in the room, would 100% go back and recommend ❤️

CanadaSmall room, “balcony” is a skinny outdoor hallway, noisy restaurant next door (but music stopped by 8:30pm), no closet, no hooks, no bedside lights.
The location is great: on an undeveloped beach. Mini-market nearby but expensive. Cute little pool (very chlorinated). Choice of 3-4 restaurants in walking distance. Staff tried hard.

United States of AmericaThey don't have food on site - but there are places very close. There are limited food options (4) in the immediate area but the food is delicious at these places. and prices are comparable. Due to the nature of their WiFi it was down for the duration of our trip due to weather. There is a small shop in the area - but it was closed every time we walked by. Being a beach location it would be great if there was a line or device in the shower area to hang wet suits.
The location to the beach is perfect, couldn't ask for better. You can't really hear the ocean but it wasn't expected. The rooms are a good size and there are some hooks for hanging items and some shelves. The pool was great and the common area is great for just hanging out, plenty of seating. They offer rentals of boogie boards and surf boards and it's very reasonable.

United States of AmericaStairs can be difficult to navigate with luggage. Staff carried it up, but we had to carry down the next day. The Cafe attached was closing when we arrived back from a tour so we were only able to get Ceviche and Snacks after a long day traveling. The Cafe was also not open on Tuesdays so we went to The Grateful Hotel for breakfast the next morning.
Very comfortable room with easy beach access. Staff was friendly.

GermanyNo breakfast and no restaurants nor shops in this "community" in the morning. in the evening the choice of 2 restaurants. the road to this 'community' is in a pathetic condition, which could certainly be changed if one wanted to. There is a ping pong table on the neighboring site, which unfortunately was broken. annoying was the constantly too loud and same music at the pool
this hotel is located a bit out of the way within a "community" near the town of Tamarindo. Tamarindo is within walking distance of the beach with a ferry boat service for 1000 colon per person. By car it takes about 40 minutes to reach Tamarindo. The room was small but clean and had a TV with Netflix, a refrigerator and air conditioning. Nice was the pool in the middle of the complex. Only 5min walk to the "grande" beach which is really nice and empty.

Costa RicaWalls very thin - could hear everything happening in surrounding rooms including heavy heavy snoring!! Wifi was not working in rooms - not El Manglar's fault as a cable was down we were told, but as I work remotely I would have appreciated being informed ahead of arrival and I would have then booked somewhere else.
Great common area seating and hangout spots. Location was great, across from the beach! Staff were super nice, friendly and accommodating.

United States of AmericaAs a few other reviewers mentioned, there was a slight sewage smell in the restroom. Leaving the bathroom window open largely eliminated that issue. The root cause is that, like most Latin American countries I’ve visited, they don’t have P-traps installed on drains, so sewer gasses backflow into the building.
The property had a beautiful outdoor lounge area, kitchen, and pool

Absolutely beautiful hotel. Wish we had stayed longer. Staff were incredible too. Pool area was brilliant and we didn't know before we came but there is a massive shared cooking facility near the pool also. A stones throw for playa grande Beach which has the most beautiful sunset I have ever seen. Highly recommend..
