Slightly too noisy due to neighbouring properties and cleaners daughter on her iPad outside of the room each day. No hot water which wasn’t too much of a problem but when the rain and wind picked up it would have been nice to have had some hot water for a shower, especially as we stayed four days.

Location, cleanliness, view, kitchen, bed and air con were great. The people we met and the hosts and the kayak and canal tour was amazing. We also had a sloth right outside the room for two days. Great access to the beach and a proper backpacker vibe with a great feel to it and good chilling out and story sharing space

No bad things to say, really !

Amazing location right in front of the beach, charming and very clean. We were welcomed by an incredible staff who went above and beyond to make sure our stay was a perfect experience. Manuel was not only great advice, but the tours we managed to book thanks to him were exceptional. Special mention to the nice cleaning lady who is also more than professional. The room was very nice, the little terrasse in front of the beach is lovely, and the kitchen is quite enough to be able to cook properly ! We were extremely happy with our stay and would happily come back again.

location was ideal. Loved the shaded outdoor space w/ hammocks. Enjoyed watching sloths one evening. The room was quite small but beds were comfortable. Hooks on wall and more shelving/ storage would help. Was only given 2 towels for 3 people and took a while to get an additional. Other than this all was good and enjoyed our stay here.

Our room had a sewage/poo kind of smell which most likely comes from plumbing or toilets. It was a lil bit sticky/icky but I guess this is normal for these beach huts near very salty air (I had similar vibes in Kauai hostels).

The location is the best part of this hostel. Right by the beach the hammocks make it super chill to read a book early morning whilst the beach is still empty. You look out to the waves and it's super relaxing. The staff at the main shop are also really friendly with a cute dog. He got our tours booked - no hassle.

Room very basic, 2 chairs would have been nice.

We did two tours with Torrugero Adventures and it was amazing. Great landscape and a very well experienced guide. We can recommend this location! The view on the beach from our room was great.

Every night there were cockroaches in our room. I am not sure though if this is the same for all facilities at Tortuguereo.

The room was very spacious and it has a kitchen you may use. It's directly on the beach. The woman cleaning the facility was extremely friendly.

The room was quite small and basic The bathroom had a mild sewage odour but nothing unmanageable

Location was great Facilities were adequate including a good AC and a well functioning kitchen The tours were great and easy to organise. Owner and cleaner were very friendly and it was easy to facilitate laundry onsite. There is a sloth living in the trees on the next door property!

Not about the hostel, but a local tip - have colones with you if you can. The dollar exchange rate seems to fluctuate between every shop and restaurant, and colones seem more readily accepted! Some places and the hostel also accept cards, but be aware there is no ATM (something the hostel also helpfully make you aware of in advance).

The hostel is located about 5 steps from the beach and is very close to the main stretch of the town for access to restaurants, the national park, and the canal. We did two tours with the same company, which were well run and easy to organise. Their instructions on how to get there made for easy arrival, the Fersa boat company were even expecting us when we arrived at the parking lot in La Pavona and knew to drop us at Torteguero Adventures first for check in (a 5 min walk from the hostel). Staff are friendly and welcoming, and the place is kept clean, despite all of the sand!

Fantastic location, really enjoyed being near the sea and being able to chill in the hammocks outside. Loved the tours that we did through them, the guides were fantastic!! Emanuel was also super helpful in organising our stay.

-pots &pan were very worn and not completely usable - The fridge is shared with other guests..who can mistakenly steal/borrow your food (rip our honey)

We had a room with "sea-view". In reality the room was rahter dark and you might want to close the curtains for privacy as other guests would pas by on the balkony. So I'd not would pay more for the sea view-room as you only have to walk 25meters to find yourself on the beach for the same view.

Clean room in an ecofriendly hostel with very friendly staff. The receptionist walks you trough the little village to the office and gives you some nice tips about the restaurants and shops. The hotel also offers excursions and activities. We were very pleased with the electric boat tour on the Tortuguero NP canals with Celimo as our guide.

Sometimes there were cats moving around inside the kitchen near the food, which wasn't very hygienic. Also, you can find better deals when it comes to tours. The ones offered by the hotel are overpriced.

The room matches the pictures on the website. It's fairly basic but comfortable and there is hot water. It's very close to the main road and right in front of the beach. It's quiet at night and very chill. Staff was very friendly and there's a kitchen where you can store your food.

the communication was awful. I received one welcome email and no further communication. I wrote them ahead of time to arrange tours but I get no response. Their is new ownership and they don’t have a reception so when I walked there they told me I needed to walk across town to check in. this would have been helpful information in their welcome email! I didn’t realize this was a hostel and the property needs some work. hopefully the new owners will update.
