Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomLack of working television
Great, traditional hotel. Good breakfast. Our only problem was that our television did not work (we got impression it had not for a while) and staff were not able to fix it. The restaurant looked great but we didn't manage to try it, as we were visiting local friends who cooked for us.

United KingdomFood and service in the restaurant was not the best but adequate. Owners are obviously part of a big foreign family and they are always around. Some might find it charming, some uncomfortable. Biggest let down is parking. Hotel states that parking is free, but there is no parking in the hotel as it is pedestrian zone for most of the day and the closest parking (50m away) is paid. If you venture further out (300m or so) you can park for free.
Beautiful old building right in the heart of the town. Nicely surprised by the room after reading some reviews here. We were comfortable with the whole family. Everything from hotel to restaurant is mediocre but perfectly suitable for couple of nights stay. Breakfast was simple but all essentials provided.

United KingdomAccess was arkward but this is a listed building so a lift cannot be installed. This should be better publicised.
The stairways were very steep and no lift which is no good for anybody with walking difficulties. However people were friendly and spoke good English. A definite must for the more adventurous traveller.

United Kingdomthe room was very rundown and lacking in basic amenities that one would normally expect in a hotel. (only one bed side table and light, one chair, no mirror, no glasses in the bathroom) The worst of all was one of the bath towels was dirty with brown stains.

NetherlandsUsually, my experience is that a hotel with a poor to moderate rating appears to be not that bad as expected, but unfortunately this time is different. The poor rating is fully justified. Although the hotel should be a non-smoking hotel, the smell of cigarettes was all over the place. Moreover, cigarette smoke seemed to enter the hotel room directly through the ventilation system in the bathroom. The mattres was too soft for me. In the morning, when I went down, my breakfast (bread, yoghurt, marmelade, cheese and meat) was already standing on the table, although I had not told the lady of the hotel at what time I would like to have breakfast. I was even more stunned, when I saw that a dog was walking around in the same room where my breakfast (cheese and salami not covered by some plastic foil) had been waiting for me. The hostess did not ask if I had a pleasant stay. I will not give the lowest score, because the shower was okay (which is a very important factor for me) and the night was silent (which may be different during top season), but I cannot give more than a 3.
I liked the location of the hotel. Unfortunately, this was the only positive aspect of my stay.

FinlandThe pillows were quite big - I like it when there is smaller one for sleeping and a bigger one for leisure/reading in bed.
This is a special place to stay - in a good way! An ancient well-kept building where the level of the river Rhein sometimes rises over the whole first floor. Not very often so don't worry! Mainly a restaurant with some rooms in the upper floors - reachable via a very narrow and steep staircase. Not for ones with walking problems but a really cozy place for most. Breakfast was quite decent although some previous guests have complained. Very friendly personnel and our dog was very welcome.

GermanyVERY TRICKY STAIRCASE! This building is 500 years old and the stairs are very small & twisty - very "dangerous" for me with a bad knee - I do not recommend it for the elderly. Even the young men & women (other hotel quests) had a hard time with stairs after they came in in the evening after drinking. Closing & locking doors very loud & could hear the (loud) men in rooms next door. Could hear everything going on in the hallway. Bathroom large & very modern - missing hooks or place to hang robe/clothes/ towels. Remember to bring your own washcloth! Soap dispensers also just laying on the sink & on the floor in the shower -- I am sure they will be installing the holders for them soon, though. Beds: very low to ground, so again, harder for us older folks. Mattress was a bit lumpy but very soft. I did sleep well (except for the other guests coming in at night- they were loud & "visited" each other several times--- not the hotel's fault.
Staff wonderful! Also a very personal service. Has a nice restaurant & own (home-made) ice cream parlor. The breakfast was huge, with large bouquet of fresh roses on each table - wonderful little touches. The building is over 500 years old and at a perfect location. Bathroom large & very modern - missing hooks or place to hang robe/clothes/ towels. Spotlessly clean!
