To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

GermanyCheck-in - I would expect a hotel reception to be open beyond 8pm, though I think it said it wasn't; we got our own key from an agreed place, but we couldn't eg ask for more covers when we found out ours were very thin for the rather unusually cool wet weather that weekend, so we had to fetch our sleeping bags from the car to be warm enough. Cramped bathroom. No kettle to make a cup of tea or cuppa soup in our rooms, not ideal in colder weather as we had, we assumed there would be one.
Very nice breakfast, best crusty, golden fresh bread rolls I have probably ever had, nice variety over the 2 mornings - differently done eggs, fruit, etc. all nicely served. Handy location, if not super picturesque in itself, 20mns walk from the Dom, and around 10mns walk to the path along the shore. Handy car park behind the hotel. Nice extra living room space in our room, ideal as we were 3 with my mother, and had to have a snack picnic on our first rainy evening.

DenmarkThe breakfast restaurant and the bathroom in the room smelled of cigaret smoke. The room smelled 'moldy'. There was a used face mask on the floor in the room behind a chair.
The receptionist was polite and provided all the information that we needed. We could lock up our bikes safely in the back yard.

We stayed in the hotel for one night, everything was ok. It was bit hard to communicate on site, host speaks German and we don't, otherwise everything worked fine for us. Very good breakfeast with home feeling!

GermanyNo staff at the hotel, front door was broken, window protection brokeb ,I got arrested from a guy in the street, the same one, I don't know how entered in the hotel and sent me notes under my door, I tried to call the hotel staff there was no one . Next day after complaining they said I would have to stay one more day to the door be fixed and no answer about the man , they said they don't know who was or how he entered, cause they were not there and they couldn't help. So I left the hotel , asked for my money back. And until now no answer ! My lawyer will get in touch soon.

GermanySmall room smelling with old tobacco smoke and warn clothes. I should have paid attention to what I book, but I did not. So I was quite surprised, when I saw no toilet in the room. An old worn out dorm room should not cost 64€ per night.
Set of fresh towels, shower gel. Manager has kindly allowed an early check in at 12 instead of 16.00.
