Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

NetherlandsThere's a €3.70 city tax (or some type of e tea tax) which is needed to be paid before I could check in. I already booked and paid for the accommwhen I found this out. Because I was arriving when the check in was closed (after 11pm) the person I spoke to insisted that I pay this small amount of €3.70 before he left the key for me. I suggested to pay in the morning before I leave but he claimed that most people leave very early and do not pay. So I had to delay my departure to send €3.70 otherwise I had the feeling that they would not leave the key for me, which would have been extremely inconveniencing. I also could have easily had internet problems and not be able to make this extra transaction (to a private account). Not sure what would have happened then. As a direct result of this situation, I would suggest that BOOKING.COM obligate accommodations who have rules like this to clearly state it when they advertise their accommodations. Or have the accommodation include it in the total price. It is really bothersome to make such an issue over this extremely small amount of money for extra tax.... especially when the client has already fully paid for the accommodation. Also, because this payment is made outside of BOOKING.COM it will be difficult to trace/rectify in case of fraud etc. I also think it's fair for me, as a customer, to know these types of troublesome details BEFORE I book and pay for the accommodation. I would not book this accommodation if I knew this from before.
The communication went really well. I called, and all my queries were effectively answered. All arrangements were made as promised. I saw some previous comments about the accommodation being in the middle of the "Red Light District" but this "negative aspect" is exaggerated in my opinion. The area seemed clean, non violent and I felt absolutely safe.

RomaniaVery cold in the room; the window left open! The fact that you are charged for sleeping in bed and you have to pay the fee only through paypal. The property does not specify that it is attached to the building of a brothel where there are women in the shop window.
Clean room.

United Kingdomwas a little smell of paint in the bathroom, but is only a minor issue. Wifi wasn't as good as it could have been.
Room and bathroom were both small but comfortable. Bed mattress was a bit soft (as others have posted) but wasn't a problem for me. Close to the main station, Christmas Markets and two large supermarkets, and a small red light district. Was safe in spite of the latter. Chap on reception with small ponytail was really helpful with bar suggestions. Made the experience better. Tea and coffee in the room was good too.

United KingdomIt seems to be next to a mini-red light district, which I didn't know when I booked it. Although central, the street is a side one, off the main roads, so overall I would not recommend being out and about late at night.
It's a small hotel, but close to the main train station and not too difficult to find. The reception is built into the bar / restaurant that operates in the ground floor. The room I had was in the loft, which gave it a nice feeling and the bathroom, although small, looked new and nicer than I would have expected.

GermanyAn extra table/shelf in the free angle of the room (next to the door) would be great to have more surfaces to place our things. But no complains, everything was great!
Location is perfect. The room is small but it has everything I needed. Super clean, air conditioning, all equipment were super new (seemed just renovated) the cleaning service fabulous, the staff super friendly. Check-in and check-out uncomplicated. Nice detail: coffe/tea/sugar/cream and water kettle in the room. Quiet.
