The location is prime and I was given a beautiful room in from of the Cathedral. The hotel has a fine restaurant and I had the trout from the Black Forrest; it was fabulous. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel.

We would have preferred a separate shower rather than having to climb in and out of the bath and mess around with the multi folding screen. Having to walk around the corner for breakfast would be unpleasant in bad weather. The breakfast was very good with a wide range of food available but it was difficult to communicate with the staff about what cooked eggs were on offer. We felt it was overall a little too expensive for a room overlooking an internal courtyard and other buildings and having to go to the other building for breakfast.

The location of the hotel is excellent for exploring the old town of Freiburg. The building is charming and full of character although well modernised. Our room was very spacious, beautifully furnished and very comfortable. The bathroom was very good with a large washbasin, lit mirror etc.

The staff were extremely friendly, all the bathrooms were super clean. The hotel is older but well maintained. They could reduce the number of towels per guest, I don't think there's a need for so many since most just need a bath towel and a hand towel.

Considering the quality of the hotel's restaurant in which we ate the previous evening my expectations for breakfast were slightly higher. It was adequate but a little on the basic side with an egg being the only cooked option.

Had to roll our luggage through an alley to another building up and some stairs before reaching the elevator. The floors creaked in the room. Not a big deal, just annoying. The deep tub was hard to get in and out of and not slip resistant. Would have preferred a walk in shower but in all fairness didn’t specifically request one. I’ve since learned most hotels in Europe have the same deep tubs.

The location to the markets and the cathedral was perfect. Beautiful view of the cathedral from our hotel window. Room was large and spacious. Christmas gift bag with treats left at the door was a nice touch.

Two out of three times the wait staff was either unfriendly or made us wait for a very long time to collect the money.

Location is unbeatable. Breakfast was great. Room was tiny - it was comfy, but the air got stuffy really quickly due to the size. Next time I will get a bigger room. Front desk absolutely great people.

Thankyou for a wonderful stay with Oberkirch. The team was very attentive with all aspects. We arrived by car into the town center pedestrian area and without any warning from us, the garage doors opened and we were welcomed in. Great staff. Beautiful rooms next to the Minster at the center of Freiburg. A good night's sleep and then a sumptuous breakfast in the beautiful traditional dining rooms overlooking the (very rainy last morning) central square of Freiburg on which nearly every day a wonderful food market is situated with at least 30 stands selling great local produce. Thankyou for your hospitality and we'll be back soon. Best wishes to the team.

Of course given the hotel's location you cannot park your car right outside. You can park about a 8 minute walkaway and carry your luggage a wee distance. The garage costs mount up so add these to your budget.

The check-in was flawless. The location is perfect for visiting the town. The room was exemplary.

It's hard when you have to drive on pedestrian paths to unload. Just not use to doing this.

It was next to impossible to find. The staff actually walked with me to where we parked the car and drove it to the hotel to unload our baggage. It is on a pedestrian path.

The property's location results in much noise pollution from 5.30am onwards with collection of waste, deliveries and the cathedral bells sounding at 6am. Both nights we had broken sleep. The property would also benefit from air conditioning or modern portable air flow units.

Liked the location in the heart of Friburg, Really helpful staff and s great restaurant linked to the property.

That I only had one night there!

We had a great room - they upgraded us when they realized I had expected they have their own parking. They do but it is limited number of spaces and at a charge. The Schlossberggarage is a very manageable walk if you exit the parking from the back at level 0 and just keep heading straight in. They allow you to drive in to drop luggage, but it is stressful to drive through the crowded pedestrian area. But back to the upgraded room - worth the price! I would go for that if I get a chance to go back. We overlooked the Cathedral courtyard. Breakfast was wonderful and had great staff. I liked that the pastries (cinnamon rolls, chocolate rolls, etc.) were delicious and not large - quality over quantity.

Getting to the hotel by car to offload cases was not straightforward. Was also 35 degrees in day time and 28 degrees and night and difficult to sleep.

A comfortable, hotel in a period building which comes in two parts, each with its own entrance, one facing the cathedral in the main square and the other a quiet street. I was in the latter section in a prettily decorated antique-style room. The atmospheric dining room in the section of the building which faces the main square serves very good, if no frills, food. I can recommend the trout. Short walk to the railway station, friendly, helpful service and fresh apples in the bedroom.

I wish there was 24x7 front desk facility. Internet wasn’t working at all. For this reason, I may not stay here again.

Parking was convenient, as it was right next door. But it was a very small space and was difficult to maneuver. Other cars had to be moved in order to get our car out. but, once again staff was very helpful.

This hotel had a friendly and helpful staff and was clean and comfortable. It had a great location in the heart of the old town, which was where we wanted to be.
