Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

The stairs were a bit of punish for my husband's arthritic knee, but that can't be helped in such an old building. Also, the shower recess was tiny, and the pillows were those insubstantial flat nothings we have encountered often in German accommodation. We still loved the property though - overall it was great and we wouldn't hesitate to go back.
We loved staying at this historic property in the heart of Quedlinburg. The modern apartment inside such an old building was so light, airy and spacious, and it was great to have kitchen facilities after a few days on the road. We liked just sitting in the armchairs by the windows watching the street life below - gave us such a sense of living history.

The pillow was too low and soft for us.
The room was spacious and super clean. The kitchen was well equipped. The location is right in the city center.

The stairs to the first floor were a little steep
It was very roomy, clean and the beds were comfy. The bathroom and shower were fabulous There were people around to answer questions e.g. wifi connection

We can’t think of anything that could make it better.
The apartment is located very close to the Marketplace. Everything in the apartment is in excellent condition and up to date. We loved it there.

The house is old, and the heating is noisy at night. Just a warning about a town - at the bank holidays all reastaraunts are overbooked, so you cannot just come in and have a dinner.
The appartment is in historical Building, straight in the historical part of the town. Feels like you are living in 18th century, but thanks god, with the dish-washing machine in the room :). We could enjoy wine with the picturesque view from our room at the market-square.

We had problems arriving at the location by car (in pedestrian zone, and navigation did not work at all in the narrow/one-way/dead end streets). No help from the hosts with advice on how to get there in advance. The parking is a few walking minutes away and needs to be booked separately (costs extra). Also, the price is plus tourism tax (3€/day/person). Note that the flat is right next to a church, meaning church bells each hour (also at night), so not great for light sleepers.
Comfy beds, convenient location for exploring old town. Very clean, high standard, modern and fresh. Small kitchen with essentials.

Unfortunately the real address of my apartment didn’t match what stated on Booking.com. I only discovered on the day of check-in that my apartment was at the Café Kaiser - Finkenherd 8 - instead of the Café zum Roland - Breite Strasse 2. The distance between these locations is 550m and the distance Finkenherd - supermarket becomes 800m. I’d have wanted to know this information before the booking, since for the same area there were other cheaper options on offer. Moreover they didn’t mention that you cannot pay with any card at the Café Kaiser. I was asked to go to the Café zum Roland, and when I arrived they told me the POS wasn’t working, so that I had to go to the bank to withdraw some cash and then back and forth again. I wasted 45 minutes and I had to delay my car rental drop-off and subsequently my train. All these setbacks could have been avoided by a more transparent communication. I hope this will be improved for the next guests.
Concerning the room everything was super! I loved the comfort of the bed and the tranquillity of the room itself. Also very well cleaned.
