Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyEverything was perfect!
The first thing that stands out is the amazing are around Schloß Hohenstein. You're greeted with it on the drive. The Schloß itself has it's own amazing charm that you have to see to believe. The hotel staff were some of the friendliest I have ever experienced in all the hotels I've ever stayed in. They made us feel welcomed during our entire stay. The hotel restaurant is absolutely amazing! Delicious regional food, paired with amazing wines. This is the perfect place for a romantic getaway, and we will be back for another visit.

GermanyThe WiFi was a little weak in our room, but this wasn't a problem, really.
Our suite was very spacious and beautifully decorated & designed. We loved the furnishings and taking walks on the grounds. The breakfast was the best we have eaten in a hotel.

GermanyWonderfully located within an English Garden, with plenty of crypto- romantic surprise, like a Dragon Grotto, the most memorable experience is the excellent cuisine, from breakfast to dinner arrangement with a insightful recommendation of wines, we have not expected. our room in the adjacent Meierei was comfy and nice, not overly equipped with extras or amenities. during the day we spent our time hiking through the amazing countryside and nearby historical sights. the perfect spot for a couple of relaxed days. the in-depth knowledge of the service blew us away.

CanadaReally nothing to complain about. The castle is remote and you need a car to access it (there are no restaurants or services close by). The hotel restaurant has gone totally gourmet for dinners which is not our style but it was fully booked.
This castle is truly memorable. The rooms are all unique and beautiful, everything is spotless, parking is free, and the staff very friendly. The breakfast is the best we've ever had anywhere with usual German fare plus hot specials cooked to your liking. The staff are incredibly pleasant and helpful (we like to play cards with the couple we were travelling with and they set us up in a beautiful room every evening we were there). This is a really fantastic place to stay at a great price.

United States of AmericaCheck in. No one there and since traveling from USA had very little internet service. Finding where our room was located was confusing. Also once we got internet service our email cut off name of room. Another couple staying helped us to find room and how it worked.
The atmosphere of the castle and it’s beauty.

GermanyGorgeous setting, but no air conditioning, so ensure that the weather is not overly hot as fans were also not provided.
The castle is absolutely gorgeous. Super quiet setting with beautiful garden areas. Very romantic. Rooms were excellent size and bed was super comfortable, however, the highlight for us was the incredible dinner in this amazing setting. The 5 course dinner was better than any Michelin rated restaurant. Truly, one of the top 3 meals of my lifetime. We will be back and will bring more friends.

United States of AmericaIt was a long hike to our room up a winding staircase. I found it fun, but my wife thought that it was too many steps. Other rooms in our party were much more accessible.
The breakfast was wonderful. Perhaps the best breakfast I've had at a hotel. The location is remote and beautiful. It was billed as a castle, but I think in common terms it was more like a manor.

United KingdomIt was a little isolated and there were a lot of stairs which made carrying luggage difficult. …. and so I would warn that it is not suitable for people with mobility issues. However, it is an authentic old castle and it would be unreasonable to expect 21st century facilities!
It was beautifully restored with taste and elegance. The breakfast was particularly good and the serving staff excellent. We had a wonderful room in the top of a tower/turret with panoramic views through stained glass windows

United KingdomThe location was more remote than expected and the car park is 100 meters down hill. Being surrounded with trees there was no aspect. I had requested a lower room with few stairs but was allocated a turret room in a tower. This was changed to a lower room only because the fridge in the room was not working and it was a hot day. The breakfast was disappointing as it took 3 attempts to get a poached egg cooked correctly - not good from what is a highly-rated restaurant. There were small issues that need to be rectified e.g no milk in the fridge for tea in the room and no coffee in room, mugs with no handles (trendy but not practical) and no assistance offered with bags from car.
It was a quiet location not too far from Coburg.

Very nice castle!! Our room was incredible!! The photos on Booking.com didn’t do it justice. Loved our stay and explore the castle. Wish we’d had time and better weather (raining) to explore the lovely park/ground attached to the castle. Breakfast was nice. The woman that severed our breakfast was so, so sweet and helpful and spoke English well.
