Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

I had a very nice stay. The hotel is in the middle of the city, close to the harbour. The area is quite and very nice. The brakfats choces were very good. I would come back ;)

A great location, close to city centre. Very comfortable bed, room itself was well maintained. Great breakfast, with variety of opinions. Minibar in the room.

Staff were outstanding, and we caused problems for them with a medical problem which they helped us with above and beyond. Thank you so much. Check in system was excellent and parking space (reserved beforehand) very good.

An excellent place to stay. Met exactly my expectations, which was a joy. Not presumptuous, but do what they do -- providing a comfortable bed in a good location and quite a good breakfast (but no frills) -- very well.

Got shouted at by a man outside for parking in the wrong place, guess that’s Germany!
Very comfortable room The owners were especially kind and really looked after my daughter and her dietary requirements ( vegan) well. They were so kind and gracious

Felt a little impersonal to be greeted by key box, but everything clear.
Comfortable room and all facilities on hand. Perfect location from which to wander around Rostock. Secure cycle storage in garage over the road.

The curtains could be darker to keep the early morning light out in the summer.
Great location. Very nice staff. Fridge in the room which is rare these days. Very good WiFi. Comfortable room. Lovely patio.

it was super hot in the room when we arrived (sunny side during the day I guess) and we didnt manage to drop the temperature even with all windows open all night, I am not a huge fan of AC but now it would come in handy

It's very quiet, being in a residential district there is no neighborhood or traffic noise at all. Our apartment had several rooms. I guess we were lucky. The location is a short walk to several restaurants and shopping, and a bit longer walk to the inlet connecting the sea and a river.

TLDR: the price is high for what’s on offer, and would have been higher had we not discovered WiFi doesn’t work and got a reduction. Beds are not comfortable. No staff on site. A lot of calling back and forth and long conversations required to sort things out. Weird experience. We were booked for 3 nights at €106/night. The wi-fi didn’t work, and apparently they knew this was happening for a while. First they said it was “because of the wind” and second they said Vodafone services were down across Germany (our Vodafone mobile connection was fine). The bed felt like you were sinking into it. The sheets don’t breathe *at all* and stick to your skin like plastic wrap. We are used to quiet but the quiet here combined with the polyester sheets mean you can hear every muscle the other person moves. The thin, narrow, equally polyester pillows don’t help to fall asleep. They were not fluffy so much as rather statically shaping your head like a beanbag would. The windows are sloped but the curtains hang perpendicular the the ceiling, so they hug one side of the bed. I suppose it’s common to have two single beds pushed together for a double room, as well as a TV with only the normal German public broadcasters (they said they had a “cable TV”). But the mattresses weren’t sitting *in* a frame, just on top of one, so they shifted *a lot*. Descriptions and pictures on this site are misleading (for example, no one told us about any terrace). It was the same case with the mini-bar (which was just an empty fridge), and the “free” 7ml sachets of hair and body wash and a couple of small bars of aggressive soap. What else? One chair pushed up against the window and another at the small writing desk (which had a phone stuck into the *middle* of it) and a folding suitcase rack. In an already small room this meant that it’s really down to sitting on the bed. The closet was *huge* but with very little room for hangers.
