Enjoyed the location, nice hotel but could do with a few updates for more guest comfort.

Hotel room facilities could have been better standard. Wasn't keen on the walk in wet room / shower. There was nowhere to hang any towels and very little shelf space. After showering you were literally walking out into the bedroom again on to carpet leaving the floor really wet. Not ideal.

Amazing location with a lovely scenic walk along the coast into the village. Peaceful scenic area and nice town. A nice quiet spot it was relaxing.

Breakfast was average, would have liked more 'main' choices such as bacon. The scrambled egg was luke warm each day. Our double bedroom was comfortable but would have liked some general facilities such as tea and coffee making in the room. We also had a night in one of the cabins (bungalow) which was in a lovely spot overlooking a lake. Both rooms lacked a few basics such as places to hang towels in the bathrooms. Could not fault the location it was spot on.

Fantastic location, perfect for coastal walk down to the town. Very scenic and beautiful, peaceful and relaxing.

I was expecting a little more from the spa area. It is very cosy but quite small. We couldn’t get the Turkish bath to heat up when we were there so we could only use the sauna and steam bath, which felt a bit limited since the spa was one of the main reasons for choosing this hotel. Good experience nonetheless.

The hotel is very charming with a lovely atmosphere. It is located on top of the hill overlooking the sea. The personnel was very welcoming and the room comfortable.

Used shampoo bottles were left i the (otherwise cleaned) bathroom, from previous guests. The staff removed it immediately and apologized when I informed them.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Super nice room, spacious and with sea view. Common areas were full of coziness and atmosphere. Dinner at the restaurant was excellent (hallibut for main course, rubarb for dessert).

The hotel is not disable people friendly. No elevator, many steps to go from living room area to the rooms etc. I informed that one of the client has mobility issues, and we were given a room on second floor ( with no elevator). was 39 steps.....As we complained, we were invited not to pay for the wine during diner......As many beaches in the area, you need to go down 150 stairs to reach the sea level.....not possible for people with disabilities.

Beautiful location, charming and cosy decoration. Sea View from the balcony was amazing. The hotel is surrounded by danish summer houses with a lot of green. quiet and peaceful. Village of gilleleje is walking distance (1.5km) and beach close by.

Outdoor dining or seating options may have helped, but I am not sure if those were not available due to weather or are generally not available. Otherwise, it was a great experience!

The dinner, breakfast and staff were superb! Felt like an old badehotel down to the heavy keys! Great views of the water topped it off perfectly!

The staff is virtually nonexistent. Maybe this is a consequence of the pandemic or of the fact that it was late August but the hotel lobby and bar were closed at 5:30pm. On the day we arrived, the receptionist called to say that everything would be closed when we arrived but they would leave a key for us in the hallway. A complete “The Shining” feeling. You would expect this experience from an Airbnb or similar, but not from a historical hotel! In any case, we got our key and everything worked out but another couple was not so lucky. We were disturbed at 7pm in our room by agitated people looking for their room key (which we later learned had been put in an envelope in their room — but they had locked their room door!). No phone number was made available to us in case of a problem either. Basically, aim to arrive during business hours or prepare for some pain. Overall, the location remains worth it, though.

The location is absolutely gorgeous with the sea and view. The rooms themselves are nice. Very quiet surroundings.

Hotel was notified early morning that I would not be arriving until 11pm earliest. Was told that wouldn’t be a problem. Arrived 11:20pm and place was locked up - no night porter, no key-box, phone went to voicemail. Result was a cold uncomfortable night spent in the car!!!

Unfortunately the hotel has not been carefully renovated - a missed opportunity to focus on the quaintness of this place, and perhaps keep some of the old paintings/decorations in the rooms, which would have added it some charm. Of the room renovation, only the main room is painted over, and has comfortable beds; the rest of the furniture (two armchairs) cramped the room and does not give it much style. The light switches had some sort of grease/oil dripping onto the walls below them, which gave them a very dirty look. Moreover, the wardrobe area is tiny and the only shelf is too high up to reach. The bathrooms are a dissapointment, there are two, split between a small room with toilet/ sink and another with shower/sink. Both have an old linoleum floor, old sinks and a showerhead which was constantly dripping, creating an unpleasant smell and moreover are rusty & full of calcium deposits. This is comparable to old Danish school dorms, which is not something we were expecting in a spa hotel (or any hotel!). It is possible to take a shower and the water works, but you would almost rather not. Moreover, the view from the room is not as advertised, rather it was facing another nearby building. The spa was unfortunately the reason we booked this hotel, but after experiencing it on the first day we did not return the other days, and cannot recommend it for a relaxation package. The massage treatment we booked did not meet our expectations: the massage therapist was very kind and skilled, however the room itself was freezing, and there was not much of a relaxing atmosphere (no relaxing music, and we could hear others loudly talking and laughing in the nearby sauna). We did not visit the sauna or the rest of the spa; it seemed quite a lively sauna room, but the entire area is rather small so when it gets crowded (over 3-4 visitors) it feels a little awkward. The whole spa is in a basement and has no windows, so there is no opportunity for a sea view.

The room was plain, with a comfortable bed, heating was working and there was a TV as well. The main building includes a lovely reception area with a fireplace, bookshelves and bar, and the dining/breakfast area is decorated very tastefully and brings a relaxed vibe. The breakfast is much improved compared to what I've seen in previous reviews: they have delicious fresh baked bread, and a selection of fruit, cold cuts as well as warm breakfast dishes - pancakes and sausages were the highlight of the latter. Coffee is freshly prepared for each table, and you have the option for tea and other accomodations. The breakfast staff was very kind when we asked for a pot of tea to bring into the room, which they arranged on a tray for us. A welcome gesture. The hotel is located in between a beach/cliffs area and a forest with other vacation houses, which makes it great for a stroll around in the morning or after dinner. The nearby town is easily reachable by car or on foot. We did not spend much time in the spa facility but the booking process with reception worked smoothly, we called ahead and had good communication on arranging a time with the staff.

No phone, television or wifi access in the room we stayed in. Walls were dirty. Room cramped and shower and toilet extremely small. Had to pay DKK85 for a bathrobe. The breakfast and dinner was average. No water or coffee available in the room. Free coffee was served between 15h00-16h30 only and at breakfast. Jacuzzi had to be booked and they never contacted us for any cancellations. Room wasnt cleaned, only the towels were replaced. Plug fitting in the room was loose.

The fact that there was free parking and Sauna and steam bath freely available. Near shops and the beach. Quiet area. Safe area.

There could be bathrobes for spa for the price we payed, the spa was nice, but nothing special, we didn’t know that we need to pre-book massage so we sadly didn’t get it.

True Hygge! Especially the fireplace in the reception, which made the evening drink even more exceptional! We had a nice tasty dinner and great service!
