We really liked everything about this place. If I need to choose one thing would be the location just next to the busy street but that wasn’t a surprise as you can easily see this while making a booking.

We originally booked 4 nights and left after one due to the poor isolation of the rooms. The hotel is located on a very noisy road (cars, bikes but also trucks going on the many construction sites in Las terrenas and honking no matter what the hour is). In addition, the generator started in the middle of the night, keeping us awake for a considerable amount of time (imagine a lawnmower in your room). As a result, we slept approximately 2hours and decided to leave at the first possible occasion. These were the last nights we were spending in Dominican Republic and did not wanted to suffer sleep deprivation before going back to our country (holidays are meant to rest, aren’t they?). We left for another hotel (Casa colibri), indeed a bit more expensive but directly on the beach (in comparison to balata that is far away from the restaurants and beach) and in a very calm area. Note that it is not possible to cook at Balata, and there are no restaurant in or near the hotel. We paid 3 nights for nothing but were really not keen to reiterate the experience of the first night. When we announced that we were leaving, the staff did not really seem to care

Bed was very hard, due to electricity breakdown every accommodation is having their own generator our room was facing that side therefore sleeping was impossible. Rooms on the other side where quite. After the roomchange it was fine. Lounge Bar area would be great if the service would be nore prompt.

Staff was very nice, clean facilities, private parking lot with security guard in the evening. Theoretocally nice facilities, if better organized. Nice and cozy lounge area. Very nice breakfast

we offer us the worst room in order for us to pay for a better one. THE aC is not included and you have to pay 10$ more/ a day to get it. our room was located by the road which is noisy early in the morning. we were aware of it but there is no wifi in the room which is not convenient.

The decoration was beautiful and the pool was perfect to cool down. The breakfast was really good.

but in the evening a shot was fired because someone tried to enter the property - unfortunately they didn't explain what was going on, they just said everything was ok. When I left, I unfortunately forgot my silver necklace in the bathroom. About 1 hour after departure I noticed it and immediately wrote an email, without reply. My friends on site tried to reach the owners by phone. They were not called back. Unfortunately a few days later, I only got the answer that it was no longer there. I am 100% sure that I forgot it there, and I described to them exactly where. Either the cleaning lady has it or the owners themselves. So please be careful with this hotel!

the hotel is next to a busy road so there is a lot of noise from traffic passing by. the bed was really hard, so after three nights by body was painful. the toiletseat didn’t fit the toilet, it was too small. furthermore we payed for a room with balcony but the balcony was almost too small to sit on with two persons. breakfast was nothing special. all in al it was not the best place I slept.

Upon arrival, we were told we had to pay extra for the AC. We agreed. Within 2 hours the power went out, and with that, the backup generator was tried 2x and then dismissed for the rest of the night. There was no power for a solid 12hours and no backup generator. The internet went down or so I thought...but for the weekend as the signal was too poor for the property and too little bandwidth. Once the power went down, somehow the water was also down although there were 2 large black water tanks. There were no flashlights or emergency preparedness. We instead fulled water from the shared water cooler outside and used our phones until we requested candles and received 2 tealights. The next morning a bucket was placed at the front door with a jug and 5 gallon water bottle. To enter and leave the premises someone had to open the gate. Someone was not always there and often we had to wait. overall, it was one of the 3 worst experiences I have had after backpacking for over 10 years and over 35 countries later. I would not recommend. I counted down the hours till when we were leaving. Horrible. Not to mention the dogs barking all night in the fields, the large crack under the door where bugs and mice can easily fit. Stay somewhere else and if you cannot afford to, don't book here.

The room was like shown in the photos. This was a plus as compared to many others that falsely advertise in the DR.

Unfortunately, we booked a room with AC for 20 USD more but only got the room with fan, although we showed the confirmation at the reception. We only got offered to book the AC for another 23 USD, which we found ridiculous. On top, the hotel is located directly at the main street, so it is very noisy. The pictures make it look a lot cooler than it actually is. Also, it is not so ecological as it claims to be. Finally, it is just too far from the city centre and the beach when you don't have an own vehicle. On booking they indicate to have a bike rental, which is not the case. However, there is a great one across the street. The communication beforehand to facilitate the transportation to the hotel could have also been better.

The distance from the town centre (20 minutes walking), though not problematic during the day. The room/WC would benefit from some hooks on the walls/doors to hang clothes/towels.

The only things we didn’t like was how bright the room got in the morning. the curtains didn’t help. and the beds were extremely hard and uncomfortable. i do wish the pool closed a little bit later so we could come back from a day out and relax in the pool at night. but 9:00 isnt too bad.

The property is beautifully decorated and minimalistic with lovely plants everywhere that compliment the theme. the pool was the perfect temperature all the time and it was nice to be able to just sit by the pool and hangout.
