you have to climb too many stairs before you even get to the elevator to go to your room and the restaurant. They only give you one 1” bar (if you can call it a bar) of soap.

We ordered the room with sea view. Unfortunately the hotel is not on the first line so the sea view was only above the building. So the view was not so fine

The noise was loud through the floor. The room above our room, we could hear every footstep and they had kids running around latenight and early. And there was some construction for a couple days that was loud jackhammering.

Andres Zavala was an excellent tour guide and driver. He is our Amigo!. He is a wonderful man who took very good care of my family. He was a great tour guide. Selena was very helpful with checking us in and making our stay top notch! The staff and service were excellent and the hotel and restaurant were great! I highly recommend Hotel Balandra.

Great hotel with super nice facilities, lush and tropical gardens, and rooms are clean and spacious. Although the pool isn´t big, it`s heated what makes it very pleasant. Our kids loved the playground. Breakfast is fantastic, and all the staff at the restaurant, customer-oriented, very helpful, and friendly. Special thanks also for Maria José, she is wonderful and made us and our kids feel very welcome. We definitely return!

There are several steps in the common areas of the hotel, which could be difficult for guests who have trouble walking.

This is a large hotel with all of the services you would expect. The staff were very kind and helpful, and the buffet breakfastis terrific. Also, the rooms are very clean and spacious.

The door hanger about room service was confusing. The green side is to request service so (maybe I'm the only dumb guest they ever had) I assumed you will not have service unless you put out that hanger. I prefer no service. It would have helped if the check in clerk showed me the hammer and explained, "Red sign is for do not disturb and no service, the green side is for faster service, and if you put no hanger then you will still get service, but later."

Breakfast is excellent. Staff was very helpful. The location is as close to the beach as you can get and faces the ocean. To the side of the hotel is a very good mall. Taxi to airport very early in the morning was free.

Only one complaint: the cold water in the shower comes and goes (the hot was fine), so the temp kept changing.

Location was great, parking easy, staff friendly, breakfast delicious. We only stayed one night so we didn't really get to enjoy as much as we would have liked. The room was larger than expected and view better than anticipated.

There wasn't a coffee maker in the room, which I prefer because I wake up earlier than restaurants. I would like to see hotels like this take initiative to eliminate plastic bottles and provide filtered drinking water in refillable bottles instead.

The only issue we had was dinner at the hotel restaurant the day after Valentine's Day. We had eaten at the restaurant before and loved it but our dinner on this particular night was not nearly as good. My wife loves shrimp ceviche and ordered it for dinner. Every ceviche either one of us has had in Ecuador was served in a kind of tomato broth but this was different and my wife didn't like it. She informed the server and his solution was to bring her a couple of packets of ketchup to add to the broth. I ordered fettuccini carbonara with sausage. When it arrived there was no sausage but in it's place was small pieces of ham, which I'm sure was the same ham cold cuts served at the breakfast buffet. I feel that if a restaurant is out of an ingredient for one of their recipes and they are substituting something else they should inform the customer ahead of time. I ordered salted caramel cheesecake for dessert and it was the worst cheesecake I've ever eaten and I've eaten a lot of cheesecake in my life. I didn't think cheesecake could ever be dry but this one was. My wife had wanted to go to one of the seafood restaurants around the beach that night for dinner but I wanted something nicer but I regretted my decision.

We have stayed in one of the Balandra bungalows previously and my wife and I really like them. The breakfast included in the room rate is very, very good and we looked forward to it each morning. The pool isn't very big but it's always been impeccably clean and the pool is heated, which I particularly like. The Balandra always has plenty of hot water for showers which can be an issue in Ecuador.

My wife and I love visiting Manta and once we discovered the Balandra it's the only place we stay.
