Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomOf course, when there was a planned power cut in the area it wasn't so easy, but the hotel has some emergency lighting and the shower still worked!
The whole hotel is so characterful, which is unsurprising given its age and location in the old town. It's like living in a palatial museum. The staff were polite, kind and attentive, notably the old woman serving breakfast who brought me a herbal infusion when she learned that my stomach was upset. The airport transfer service was at a fair price and very efficient.

United States of AmericaWe couldn't be happier with our stay at Casa San Marcos and hope to return! Can't say enough about this truly special place!
Words cannot express my deep appreciation to Doña Mayra and her outstanding staff for a special and magical stay in Quito, Ecuador. Staying in Casa San Marcos is a truly special and memorable experience. Casa San Marcos is Doña Mayra's family home of more than 400 years. The house is full of art and beauty. We felt warmly welcomed by Doña Mayra and her dedicated and attentive staff - who were so generous in sharing their expertise on Quito's art, history, and culture, as well as natural and cultural wonders in Ecuador. Doña Mayra and her team made us feel as if we were family. We loved the home cooked breakfasts, stories about Quito's culture and history, and reflections about local art and artists. What an incredible and magical visit. We hope to return to Casa San Marcos soon! In the meantime, we offer our highest recommendation for this truly special property. ¡¡Muchísimas Gracias!!

GermanyBathroom had no separate door and was basically directly behind the bed (it has a private screen).
Beautiful old villa with rooms furnished like a museum. Spotless clean. 5 minute walk to Plaza Grande. Staff was exceptional - we were allowed to check out 2 hours later due to departure time to airport at no extra charge.

United States of AmericaWithout a doubt, the most amazing property we stayed in. Granted, the hotel in Mindo was unbelievable, but the combination of staff, helpfulness, location and the magic that is the owner this is the best facility. Kindness is abundant as is a willingness to help and connect us to Quito. Seriously, the stay was wonderful. It was so good that when we returned to fly out of Quito we decided to stay an extra night at the hotel. It's that wonderful.

ChinaNoises from guests in other room in the early morning.
the elegant heritages the property keeps and represents, also through the introductions and guided tours made by Mme. Mayra Ribadeneira. They’re so beautiful and you’d be honored to be part of them for a period of time.

CanadaThere could not be a better place to stay when visiting Quito. The property is very conveniently located, only a 10-minute walk to Plaza Grande and the historical sites and restaurants near the plaza. The owner, Sra Casares, gave a wonderful tour of the property, with its amazing collection of antiques and works of art. She also accompanied me and a friend with whom I was travelling to dinner one evening for a memorable time. The staff, Santiago and Clarita, could not have been more helpful. My room was comfortable and quiet. I would certainly stay at Casa San Marcos again if I come to Quito.

United KingdomCould not fault this hotel.
Stunning room, in an historical building, beautifully decorated and full of interesting art and artefacts. The lady owner was lovely and the staff were wonderful, friendly and professional throughout the hotel and breakfast room. Very kind, helpful gentleman on the reception. We arrived at the hotel as walk in’s, late in the evening, with no booking, having been let down by the hotel we had originally booked. The owner and front desk gentleman, not only arranged a room immediately but upgraded us to the suite, with an amazing view of the city and mount. Breakfast was included and was exceptional. The 2 night stay, was a real treat.

United States of AmericaI will recommend this hotel to any of my friends who may visit Quito in the future. the location is super, in the middle of old town. it’s close to everything. The hotel itself is just like a museum, with 300 years history. the internal decoration is very beautiful, and it’s full of antiques, full of story. and the host Maria , she is super sweet lady made me feel so touched! she arranged everything for me before my arrival. while I was in Galapagos and the signal was not good, can’t respond her on time, but she reserved taxi, Covid test for our return flight, arrange your guides, etc. even though I changed our plan later, she was always trying to accommodate my plan. she gave us a tour, she waited us for return even though it was late, she shared her life experience, she was at my mom’s age, and she did make me feel like she’s as warm as my mom. I love Ecuador and will come back some time. I will visit her again and want to hear more of her stories!

United States of AmericaWould have no hesitation to recommend this hotel to anyone. The location is amazing (right near Old Town - easy walking distance to the basillica, independence and grand plaza's) The owner and staff go above and beyond in personalizing your experience. Felt like we were coming home to stay with family, rather than a large impersonal hotel. Santiago was even willing to make breakfast for us extra early before the usual start time so we could grab a bite before any early starts we had.

Casa San Marcos is an extraordinary architectural gem. The high ceilings, heavy doors, intricate wood carving and colonial ambiance will transport you to a gentler, finer time gone by. We were treated as family by the owner, the gracious Mayra, Who took a personal interest in us and took the time to explain the history of her former family home. Santiago, will cheerfully attend to your every wish. This boutique Hotel is located in an enchanting historical neighborhood with memorable restaurants within a few minutes walking.
