Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomNo toilet paper, occasional powercuts ( not sure if this was national or the hostel)
Central, safe, secure, good food, comfortable bed, hot water, little shop inside premises for essentials, friendly staff, good wi-fi.

SwitzerlandThe location of the hostel is great, right across from the viewpoint of the lake. Rooms are basic but comfortable, the wood stove is great (and necessary, because it gets cold at night!). We had dinner and breakfast and enjoyed the simple, home-cooked food. The staff were very kind and welcoming, and helped us to organize a taxi to Latacunga for a decent price.

GermanyIt felt a bit like they weren’t expecting any guests. There were no towels in the bedrooms and no toilet paper in most bathrooms. Both were provided at request. The place was super chilly. They lit the chimney in the lounge and our bedroom at our request, but it would be nice customer service to prepare that beforehand if you know guests are coming. We weren’t the only ones feeling cold.
Clean and neat rooms. The crater is just crossing the street. The food in the restaurant was yummy. Also, we were able to leave our luggage after checkout to do some crater-sightseeing before taking the bus.

United States of AmericaOur only complaint was that the room was so small that it was difficult to move. There was only enough room to walk around the bed, leaving no place to put our clothes or backpacks.
Hostería Chukírawa is located right across from the viewing platform for Laguna Quilotoa. It's a beautiful old building that has been well cared for with lots of charm. The attached restaurant is very good, the best that we found in the village, and inexpensive. And there were nice community places to sit and relax with wonderful views.

United KingdomDinner was average in a cold dining room (though breakfast was great). Some of the staff weren’t very friendly/attentive.
Our fire in our room was lit as soon as we arrived in the cold and wet which was lovely to sit and look out at the rain while drying off in a warm room. Comfortable room and a good shower. Very close to the viewpoint for the Quilotoa crater

GermanyThe staff could have been a little more committed. One day I asked several times in the afternoon if the oven could already be turned on, it was always said: yes, but then no one came.. the water to fill up was also often empty and took the whole day until somebody refilled it..
We were lucky and got a room with windows to the outside, there are also many rooms that only have a window to the hallway. The food (dinner) was good, but nothing special. At night, the wood stove was stoked, which was super cosy and warm. The location right next to the lagoon was wonderful. Breakfast was lovely.

United States of AmericaThe rooms were very cold so you couldn’t relax privately. The room photos show views of trees but there’s just a gravel construction lot. All the photos make it look better than it is, seems a bit deceiving. The biggest difference probably the brightness, this hotel is pretty dark in general. At reception, they accidentally tried charging us more than Booking.com price. They honored booking.com price after I showed them though. It’s expensive for what it is. We hiked the Quilotoa loop and all of our other stays were nicer and cheaper so it was a bit of a let down to end here where it’s not as nice and nearly double the price.
It was close to the Laguna view point which made it easy to go look whenever we wanted. There’s a wood stove in the room which can be lit - by request - after dinner which is cool. It’s clean Rooms feel safe with the deadbolt lock Really hot shower which is fabulous Water refill station provided for free Breakfast was really pretty

GermanyCompared to the hostels on the quilotoa loop itself, I didn't find a place to dry clothes. At least for the 5-person dorm I found the outside (e.g. hotel floor) quite noisy early in the morning (5:30/ 6 am) and until late (11pm)
The common room was really cozy
