Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyThe room furniture is not in the best condition, it is a very humble abode, but it's comfortable enough for a short stay.
The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating to our needs. Location is also really good, close to Lavapiés and Atocha station.

GermanyIf you are in a good room, it's perfect. Some of the rooms have small problems (broken sink, or broken shutters) - which was unexpected.
The location was absolutely fantastic! The service was also spectacular, when there were issue, they were fixed right away. Bibiana was an angel!

United States of America.Would have liked better information on how to access the building it is located in. The code given us to open the door did not work.
Location is perfect to walk to the art museums including the Prado. Many restaurants nearby. Close to train station.

AustraliaWe booked a double room but got a double room with a bunk bed squashed in. Bathroom had tiles broken. No shower curtain so water went over the floor. The foyer of the building that the hostel was in is dirty. Not very appealing considering the price was cheap.
Bed was comfortable and the location was good for access to the train station.

SpainThe room had a private shower, but not a private bath. The place is definitely a Hostel, not a Hotel. It is not well indicated in the street, so we spent a little more time than necessary looking for it. I took this place for pure need, but it was too expensive (80 euros per night, 2 people) for such a simple place.
The location, near the train station. It is a simple place, but sometimes it is not necessary to have more things. Things were clean and comfortable enough to pass one night.

ItalyThe building and the room were dirty, with broken furniture all over the place. I personally found a foot nail on my bed, which was also full of presumably body hair, and discovered that my blanket had a cigarette hole in it. The price paid was insane compared to the room offered.

CanadaI assumed that in that price range we we paid we would at least have air conditioning. There was only a small fan in the room and the outside temperature was over 40 degrees. The elevator to the reception on the 6th floor of the building was broken and luggage had to be carried up 6 flights of stairs. There was no sign outside and nothing to indicate that there was a hotel, it is only on the 6th floor of an otherwise tenant occupied building. The only place we saw the name was beside the tenant buzzer. We were buzzed in but nobody told us to go to the 6th floor and we spent a significant amount of time trying to figure out where to go. The reception spoke very little English and only came down to help us after we rebuzzed a number of times. Perhaps if we had only paid around 60 to 70 Euro I may have expected this level, but at over a hundred Euros I expected a higher quality of room. Everything was on the old and shabby side and although it was fairly clean the smell of disinfectant spray used to clean was a bit overwhelming (perhaps over the top to mask other smells). They also had the slowest check in I have ever encountered. It must have been the fellow's first day on the job as he seemed to have to quadruple check everything and had huge difficulty finding the information he needed on our Canadian passports.
Although it was very difficult to communicate with the reception due to our inability to speak Spanish they were friendly and did try to be helpful when we asked questions about busses and restaurants. They gave us some good advice there.

ItalyIt was on the 6th floor without any fire escape or fire extinguidas that I could see. They are supposed to have one on every floor by law that must be renewed every usar. It was also really grotty considering I paid 90 euros for one night.
There was a very nice woman at the desk in the evening. The location is very useful because its very close to Atocha Station if you're leaving very early. The mattress was actually very comfortable.

SpainThe room was fairly old and there was no way to control the heat in the room, so we had to keep the window open most of the night to keep ourselves cool. The bed was alright although it seemed as though they may have or may have not been cleaned as we found some tiny hairs underneath the comforter.
The staff was very friendly and allowed us to check in a little later than normal! Very responsive on WhatsApp which was great! Location was also really great, right next to the Atocha train station!

United States of AmericaThe owner was a bit rude and passive agresive. The price is the highest I have paid in terms of quality/price in all of Spain and travels in the last decade. The professional photos displayed in the site are misleading. I got an upgrade and it was still sketchy.

CanadaThe smell was horrible. The smell of rotting garbage outside the window likely on a neighbor’s balcony. It was really awful. That was my only real complaint, which lowered the score significantly. Otherwise if there was no smell I would have stayed longer. You do not want to be in room 16
The location was ideal from the train and right across the street in the art museum is one of the world’s most famous work of Pablo Picasso. After 7:00 PM the museum is often free. The wifi was good, the place was quiet

SlovakiaThe bed was super squeeky and wobbly, the walls were too thin and in the morning we could hear clearly the person in the other room. There were no decorations in the room, and overall it felt like it wasn’t worth the price. It was not what expected from pictures.
