Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

The hotel is charming - a tastefully converted prison! The room we had was perfect - everything worked! The hotel is perfectly situated for the Viking Line terminal and is right on the number 4 tram route which makes getting into the city centre very easy (although this is a very pleasant 15 minute walk if you don't want to use the tram). The breakfast offering is superb and the dinner menu is excellent with freshly cooked and well presented dishes. The staff are very welcoming and exceptionally helpful.

United KingdomIf I was being incredibly picky; on a couple of mornings locals walked their dogs through the hotel garden and they barked at other dogs. On one morning a local man and woman were chatting in the garden at 8AM. The man's dog was running around and barking for a good 5 minutes. He was obviously so enchanted by the young woman that he failed to realise that his dog was waking sleeping tourists. And, on some days, depending on which housekeeper cleaned our room, the floor was sometimes not swept and some housekeepers were resistant to part with English Breakfast Tea. Not sure anyone drinks Earl Grey, but there was plenty of that.
The reception team were exceptional. Especially the young woman who checked me in and the one who checked me out. Hotel is well located, well built and tastefully adapted from its original purpose as a prison. Had breakfast one morning and it was exceptional, if pricey. Also, the hot chocolate in the room, that was replenished daily was super.

BrazilBathtub is an issue. It made the bathroom soaking wet, with water running out of bathtub structure to the floor.
Everything is new and they preserved the old prison! Staff is great and the location (with Tram 4 passing in front of the hotel) is also amazing.

Interesting architecture (old prison), great facilities, wonderful location and very friendly staff. The breakfast was one of the best we have ever had. Good value for money too (winter time)

United KingdomThe hotel website ives out a phone number that is not theirs, but that of a booking platform, which was not revealed on calling the number.
The hotel is somewhat unique, established in a protected building that was in the 19th century, a jail. There were therefore restrictions in the conversion that impact the aesthetics, prisons were not constructed to look appealing. Nevertheless the heritage has been preserved with minimal impact on the comfort of the hotels visitors. Two cells can be viewed, in their original state, an isolation cell and a multiple occupancy cell that looks like it may have served as a slammer for the drunk and disorderly of the period. The gallery aspect of the floors is also evidence of its previous role. Ours was a comfortable stay in an interesting building. My congratulations to those who developed it.

United KingdomThe room felt a little tight, perhaps because we had the sofa bed made up and extended. A bit of skirting board fell off and did not get repaired. That seemed odd. Also had to request top-ups for tea/coffee/milk/sugar.
Very atmospheric hotel, given that it was previously a prison. The breakfast room is in the basement, along with a couple of Cells in their original form. This was a return visit; we stayed here on our honeymoon in 2016.

LatviaThere was problems with heating and ventilation, or we couldn't find where to adapt it. Also they don't provide slippers and robes. Of course it's weird feeling to stay in former prison , but overall you couldn't see it or feel it.
The staff was super sweet and welcoming, even allowed to check-in earlier. The bed was one the most comfiest and cosiest where we have slept. Rooms was clean. Breakfast delicious and location allowed to get everything in maximum 15 minutes. Public transport is right next to the hotel.

AustraliaEverything was good.
Fantastic breakfast! A lot of options to choose from and very good coffee and tea. The room was spacious and the bed really comfy and big. The whole re-design of the hotel was very well done, preserving some features of the previous jail architecture but lightening up. Location is great, just steps from a tram station and a walkable distance from the city centre.

AustraliaWe loved everything about the hotel. After a delayed flight and arriving at 2am, Rita was wonderful. She had already been up to check the temperature in our room for us. She was also easy to communicate with prior to our stay with quick responses to emails when our flight was delayed. Breakfast was amazing. Would definitely recommend staying here if you would like a unique experience

United KingdomThe door locks were a bit shabby - the security bar was broken in our room. Also the mattresses were slightly too big for the bases so felt a bit unsecured. Would also have appreciated sheets being changed more often
The staff were really attentive and friendly. They remembered things that had been mentioned in passing the day before and went above and beyond
